He's a better option than Colton, Kelly or Rantanen. And better than Mittelstadt right now.

In his rookie season, he had 25 points in 45 games. Nashville fans have complained about him getting misused after that season, and it seems to continue with us.

I have yet to see Rantanen with Pärssinen, how f***ing hard is it?

Also, why the f*** were all the messages regarding a former board member removed? Not against the rules AFAIK, especially since the messages were all very heartwarming about his/her absence.
I don't think that's true. Parssinen hasn't been bad but I don't think he's done anything to demonstrate that he can take on a scoring line role, let alone 2C.

I'm not on board at all with Jones. He's been pretty bad for a few years now. That contract is an albatross and would require 50% retention for it to be even palatable, and that will make any deal all the more costly.

He’d be a much better looking player here and I like Seth but that Buzz, your salary, woof. And I feel like maybe Manson would be going the other way even if Chicago retained, because that salary, woof.

Manson has Illinois roots so it might not be a restricted destination. The rebuild might complicate that though.

Surprised others are coming on board, but I'll say again I think Jones would be a mini Blake style addition to this team, with his dynamic size/offense contribution.

I think he would be rejuvenated and perhaps finally play to his potential on a contender and especially on the Avs with his history. It's just very hard playing defense every year on shitty teams. I think he shows up and helps them in a big way in the playoffs especially.

Bumps Manson down too and gives insurance with another big defender.

Problem is the cap and if they can still address 2C after making a Jones trade. Probably can't expect more than maybe $2M in retention the next 5 years. Cap is taking a big jump, but that might still mean Mikko is gone.

If Crosby is finally willing to be traded (probably not) I go this route in a heartbeat. Move Girard for a cheaper puck moving D man if need be. Not sure the other 2C options.

Imagine, the Avs over a decade ago, trying to decide on who to pick 1st between MacKinnon, Jones, and Drouin, and they end up with all three? Barkov as 2C?:sarcasm:

I totally understand why they don't do it but man, would I love to see the No-Trade list of players! That would be interesting.

Once again, I think there needs to be retention without the Avs paying for it. I’d say 6.5-7.0M is about where he’s at. I’d rather trade for him 2.5-3.0M retention and not pay for retention than pay more for 50% retention.

Yeah, there is just no way they retain a 4.75M cap hit for five years. Can you flip your half of the contract?

His deal does back dive hard in actual cash, but even then I just have a hard time even seeing it.

You have to think Manson might be going the other way in a Seth Jones trade. Yes, Jones makes too much but if retention assuages that, then Jones is eating up minutes and playing PK, which Manson does not do. If Jones serves his purpose, there’s unlikely to be a need for Manson as a 4.5M third pairing. He has roots in Illinois too, so there’s a chance he can be traded there.

Manson 4.5M Colton 4.0M Ivan ~ .8M comes to nearly 9.5.

If the Avs acquire Jones with Manson going the other way, the Avs need to obviously trade for Horvat or Lindholm. Gotta keep Nichushkin though. It’s about the 2013 draft and Finns.

It also makes you wonder if the Avs do this because they put more effort into the draft when selecting near the top.

Avs won't get rid of Manson before the playoffs this year. Offseason maybe.

Avs have always wanted 5 top 4 dmen going into the playoffs.

Even last year when they dealt Byram they immediately replaced him with Sean Walker.

Maybe, but I just don't think the Avs are interested in moving Manson. Injuries are a concern, but I think they value his contribution too much, especially in the playoffs. I kinda agree too.

I think Girard gets moved before Manson if they need to, in most scenarios where they think they can get an offensive puck mover coming back in the same or separate deal.

You don’t think Jones represents a departure from that model? In the previous iterations of the Avs, would they have considered this for a 2nd pairing? Before your mind goes to Johnson making 6M, remember that preceded Makar.
