You forgot injury prone. That's the #1 thing.

I'm not criticizing CMac here. I'm critizicing Bednar about his usage of players, and the fact that CMac seems to have zero regard in actually asking Bednar about his opinions OR, more importantly, sometimes telling him what to do. This is a chain of command thing. CMac is above Bednar. Sometimes, it's up to the coach to make do with what he's been given, not toss every toy he's been given to the corner because he doesn't like it.I'm personally willing to give the team more of the benefit of the doubt.
With Annunen, Colorado needed to run with him for a while, but he couldn't hack it. We saw right away Wedgewood could and it really helped turn the season around. Nashville is giving Annunen work similar to what he had last year (~1gm/week) and he's doing really well. I wish him nothing but the best, except when playing the Avs.
With Parssinen, my take may go against the grain. Nashville was scratching him and the underlying metrics were ugly, and I just wasn't a fan of the move relative to the cost (3rd rounder). I think he's had a couple of good moments here, but overall has been just another 4th line body. In both of the last two games, he was partially or directly responsible for the goals the 4th line gave up. I don't want to blow those two goals out of proportion; they were the only 5v5 goals against he's been on the ice for in his time with the Avs. I'm just saying that when I've noticed Parssinen lately, it's been more bad than good.
That said, I get it, he's playing with Innala and Ivan, which is not exactly the most ideal situation to flourish in. But at the same time, I don't think the Avs are a lineup tweak away from Parssinen exploding. I think there's still a decent chance he can be a difference maker with more time (and opportunity) in the future, but I personally don't think he's there yet.
If what I said there was a bunch of gobbledygook, I'll sum up my opinion by saying I'm betting on the house. They've gotten things right so many times when it comes to personnel. I can think of many, many players who've left and stayed the same or saw their play dip. But I can't think of single player who's left town and took a clear step forward, to the point it was obvious Colorado was misutilizing them.
That's just bad management.... You get a coach to implement a style and system. Bednar has a clear style and system that has proven effective. Just because Cmac is getting players that don't fit Bednars style and system doesn't mean that Bednar should up and change what's gotten him to this point. Cmac should be on the same page as Bednar and get him players that are more suited to his system/I'm not criticizing CMac here. I said it during the summer, said it during the start of the season, and I will say it now: Sakic and CMac need to call Bednar to their office and start telling him this is how you are going to deploy some of the roster. First of all, no more than 22+ min for the top guys. That's a start. And if you don't comply, pack your f***ing shit.
I very much like Bednar, but I'm f***ing frustrated with this clear disconnect and our FO not doing f*** all about it.
It's a two-way street. I'm more pissed about the disconnect in general, but I tend to lean to the side of management because A) they are the ones higher in the hierarchy and B) style of play has f*** all to do with goaltending, and there was a big disconnect there as well. That's just bad management.... The thing is, we will never find out because Bednar never even gives them a chance and instead keeps banging his head against the wall with the horses he knows, or overplaying his top players.I'm probably in the minority, but I see it differently. Whether it's Parssinen or whoever, I just don't think any of the players Bednar isn't giving ice time to are particularly good.
Yeah in isolation a swap like that would be seriously awful. Only way it's somehow redeemable is if it's a cap-opening move that facilitates a trade for a legit 2C solution like Rantanen for Pettersson.Pretty sad, if that's true.
Sad for a few reasons:
- Mitts is signed for 3 years, Donato is a UFA in 5 months.
- Mitts cost us Byram. Imagine trading Byram for Ryan f***ing Donato a year ago. Unfathomable.
- Donato is a perennial 25-30 point player having a career year in a contract season on a terrible team. Likely unsustainable.
- The most pathetic part? This somehow makes us better... trading Casey Mittelstadt for Ryan Donato. That should have never been the case, this should have been a trade we laugh our assess off at as we hang up the phone. Now, it's an upgrade.
Seth Jones has a full NMC for the duration of his contract, which will limit what Chicago can get for him as there likely wouldn't be a bidding war. Given Jones' Denver connection it would be likely that he'd waive for Colorado, and if that's one of the few teams he'd waive for and Chicago really want to move him then it may actually not cost too much to acquire him even with some retention. If Chicago is looking to move him, I don't think the requested return would be significant. It is definitely the cap hit I'm worried about. Now, if Chicago wants to retain 50%....sure, let's talk about it.
F*** it, Mitteljost + Wood + Kylington for JonesYeah in isolation a swap like that would be seriously awful. Only way it's somehow redeemable is if it's a cap-opening move that facilitates a trade for a legit 2C solution like Rantanen for Pettersson.
Drouin - MacKinnon - Nichushkin
Lehkonen - Pettersson - Landeskog/Colton
Wood - Donato - LOC

If they retain on Jones, I guess.F*** it, Mitteljost + Wood + Kylington for Jones

And who plays 2C?F*** it, Mitteljost + Wood + Kylington for Jones
Pärssinen. He should play one now, but we are waiting for Sakic and CMac to grow the balls and actually tell Bednar to do it.And who plays 2C?

Seth Jones.
Full NMC.
Raised in Denver. Dad is currently the Nuggets Assistant General Manager. Spent lots of time with Sakic as a kid who helped get him and his brother into hockey.
It’s time to come home.
That was not the impression I got watching the WJC.Ritchie is ready. Mitts for Jones.

He was on a garbage squad. That was not the impression I got watching the WJC.
He's a better option than Colton, Kelly or Rantanen. And better than Mittelstadt right now.Pack it up if Parssinen is our 2C.
No amount of Finnish bias will convince me Parssinen can be our 2C this season.
Am I missing something here? I’ve watched several games since Parsinen was acquired, and other than being a decent PP2 option, I don’t see much top-6 upside. He's a better option than Colton, Kelly or Rantanen. And better than Mittelstadt right now.
In his rookie season, he had 25 points in 45 games. Nashville fans have complained about him getting misused after that season, and it seems to continue with us.
I have yet to see Rantanen with Pärssinen, how f***ing hard is it?
Also, why the f*** were all the messages regarding a former board member removed? Not against the rules AFAIK, especially since the messages were all very heartwarming about his/her absence.
That's why I'm a genius and never wrong. Ritchie does Ritchie things. And you can't comprehend his genius. That was not the impression I got watching the WJC.
