Hey man you asked for a source and I just provided one. Believe it or don't. You're never gonna get a dollar amount straight from the horse's mouthSo if Seravalli says "he thinks" that means Rantanens agent, Rants or Avs have said it and its true, right... He just said it to make us link him as a source to make money of your clicks..
Well I would have accepted "Ive heard" but "I believe" is as true as I or anyone on the board had said it let alone journalist. He might have a track record on being a truthful source but this thing is just too juicy to not be a little over the top...Hey man you asked for a source and I just provided one. Believe it or don't. People like to say that because it’s a story but if Sakic didn’t like MacKinnon, the pick would have been Barkov. It wasn’t even like it came down to the last second. They said days before it was going to be MacKinnon.
People were whispering about the Devils yesterday. If this is true it's probably not the Rags. They have cap space after the Trouba trade.
Certainly sounds like NJ. Might see a recent 2nd overall moved soon.People were whispering about the Devils yesterday.
I just wonder how they are going to pull that off cap wise. A third team taking on Meier?Certainly sounds like NJ. Might see a recent 2nd overall moved soon.
Likely . Back to San Jose hahaI just wonder how they are going to pull that off cap wise. A third team taking on Meier?
The Avs were high on Barkov, yes, I think they even met with him prior to the draft. But I was under the impression that Pracey and the scouts wanted Jones. But in the end didn't Sakic like Barkov? I never fully felt like Jones was going to be it.
God that was a long time ago now.
Well to be fair I think he actually did okay prior to 2009. I believe he was the guy who got Stastny, for instance. But for whatever reason, 2009 drained him of all his powers. He was pure shit after that.Just because I think it's required, f*** Pracey. That guy lived off one good draft and shit the bed so bad the rest of the time he was here.
I think the jones hype was almost all local media. To the point that the team had to leak the Mack pick well before the draft to calm it down. But in the end didn't Sakic like Barkov? I never fully felt like Jones was going to be it.
God that was a long time ago now.
Elliotte says Miller was supposed to be held out tonight because a deal to the Rangers seemed close but apparently it's off now. Some teams also have permission to speak with Miller.
Also, Pettersson has informed the Canucks he would like to stay.
- Miller already was a problem child in other organizationsIt will be JTM that gets traded, provided he waives for a team he’s interested in.
- Petey younger and signed long-term
- Tocchet now losing patience with Miller
- Their butter soft core probably prefer Petey
^^^ This is the Way. Giving Moose $14mil would be the dumbest possible thing CMac could do.I find it a little humorous that several threads in this forum lament the lack of depth on the Avs. Then the possibility of more cap space arrives, and suddenly it is just fine to pay Mikko $14M or whatever number his agent hears from other teams. Perhaps a Mack cap is not the worst thing. What if Wedgie turns out to be a great backup? What about Drouin, who is one of very few players not in Bednar's doghouse? What about a 5D and 6D that might cost $2.5M each, instead of added together? Or a 4th line without over-the-hill journeymen? All of these would be smart cap allocations as well.
There actually is an answer for all of these needs: Draft better and always have a handful of quality players on ELCs. But the Avs draft like crap, and have squandered virtually all of the remotely viable assets in trades for Ryjo, Eller, Trenin, etc. It will likely be 4 or 5 years before anyone not named Ritchie makes the roster on an ELC.
Either Miller or EP - in a hypothetical trade merely as an example - would give the Avs potentially $3M ( EP) or $6M (JTM) in cap room over the $14 Mikko seems determined to receive.
Sure, the Avs have had many injuries that impact depth, but who is to say that the Avs don't have the same injury issues next year, with a Mikko $14M contract choking the salary cap? Mitts falling into a sinkhole surely does not help either. But I am 100% willing to die on the hill of not paying Mikko $14M, instead finding a wing making $8M, then spreading the extra $6M around to increase the quality of the depth players on the roster.
I would hate to lose Ivan.Scouts at Ball Arena earlier today for COL-DAL:
Chicago
San Jose
Philadelphia
Anaheim
Columbus
Montreal
Minnesota
Reminder that Chicago, San Jose, Montreal and Philadelphia were all also at the Eagles two games where Ivan played earlier this week. Likely in attendance today to watch him play again.
@Cousin Eddie might’ve been onto something when he suggested Ivan could get traded.
