Right now I wish Colton could be swapped for someone better, but he's the most difficult to move because of that NTC.
To be honest, we have Colton’s improvement in the Viking. Put the roaring 20s guys on the 4th line and get a better middle 6 winger. At least this way we have some insurance in case of a Nuke screw up.

I think Zetterlund is one of the more untouchable pieces for the Sharks. I like the guy you mentioned the other day - Oliver Bjrokstrand. Obligatory Columbus Blue Jackets connection, never misses games, always puts up 50 points with mediocre (~15min) ice time. :yo:
Bjorkstrand would be a good get, but pretty much impossible to add in conjunction with Jones unless Colton is heading out which seems unlikely given his NTC.

Bjorkstrand without Jones might work, but prioritising RW over D doesn't make sense.

Yeah pretty much.

Only way we trade for a winger IMO is if its a Wood+ or Colton+ sort of deal. And then I cant really imagine many teams being interested in Wood. Colton is the one guy I could see them moving but with his movement protection I doubt we see that this year as well.
Colton to NJ is one of the only realistic scenarios that work in moving him to create capspace for a bigger deal.

In:
Jones $2m retained ($7.5m)
Dumoulin 50% retained ($1.575m)
Zetterlund 50% retained ($725k)

Out:
Wood
Kylington
Malinski
Picks/prospects

Leaves the roster below. If you pay another 4/5th round pick to get double retention on Dumoulin that would also open up more forward options with higher caphits than Zetterlund (he might be too expensive as SJ probably don't want to trade him, I just used him as an example).

Seth jones has a positive value @7.5. I just don’t see any reason a team would make those trades JNO

IMO, if Colorado wants a chance at winning the cup, they need help both up front and on the blue line. I'm not sure Jones and his awful contract is the way to go. I'm intrigued by the player for sure, but if adding him means no/marginal help up front, then no thanks.

Girard signed a 7 year- 5M per contract in 2019.

Jones @ 7.5M in 2025 with the cap fixing to explode is actually really good value. With him being asked to play second pair minutes and have someone like Girard who is an exit machine next to him? I'm very intrigued. My only issue would really be his age as bigger dmen typically physically break down sooner. But if he can keep it going for 3 or 4 kicks at the can with us basically being our #3, I'm down with it.

Constructing a serviceable D for a PO run is a decades long endeavor. It isn’t easy to be in a position to acquire a top 4RD going into the post season run. The Avs are. We are no longer in the development stage. Jones would stabilize the D for the foreseeable future and not just this post season run. Having seen the toll which the POs impose, I prioritize acquiring a Dman like Jones even over Mitts as 2C

How many police officers has Zegras threatened so far?

Feel like you might be dropping the Galchenyuk comparison without realizing the depths to which Galchenyuk has fallen these days lol. Might want to pick a different guy.
C'mon now. My comparisons are always on-ice... clearly I didn't suggest he was a sociopath like galchenyuk.

The similarities I am talking about :

- both high draft picks
- both drafted as centers
- both had early success with their teams playing C
- both shifted to wing when it became apparent they couldn't play a lick of defense
- in both cases, people blamed the coaching staff in place as to why they didn't have success at center and suggested a change in scenery would allow the player to reach his true potential

The biggest thing for me is, he can step in really take minutes off Makar's plate, pk, and reliably move up to the top pair *when Makar is injured.

That is extremely valuable insurance, and makes it more likely that Makar is at his best in the playoffs, and not nursing injuries from blocking shots on the PK.

Makar will have a better career with a player like Jones behind him on the right side.
