Alec Martinez was a fine signing. 1-year stopgap vet. No problem. Giving Brodie term was a weird call though. He looked cooked as hell last night. The guy has no legs. It should be him, not Allan, that comes out of the lineup when Kaiser is ready.

Looking forward to the end of the year when Rinzel, Moore and Greene sign.

The Brodie signing was a disaster before the ink was even dry. The organization has young options at D that can play. IE Allan and Kaiser.

I wouldn't have given him 1 year at the league minimum. He was cooked in Toronto and healthy scratched in the playoffs. 2 years at his term although not a Huberdeau level contract, it is still a bad look. It's almost like KD was taking care of a 2nd cousin.

Brodie definitely sucks, good to see Davidson isn’t scared to waste the Wirtz family’s money just for fun

He looks quite good in the highlights and is top 5 rated on many portals. What's the skinny on him? Is he day 1 NHL ready to plug in on 98's right wing?
6'3" 195 lbs, but looks even bigger than that with the eye test. He has taken on a leadership role every team he's been on. He has a ton of skill and plays a similar style of game to Matthew Tkachuk. He doesn't have the added pest-like features the Tkachuk brothers possess, but he uses his size very well nonetheless. He's one of the older players in the draft and he is developed well physically. I say there is a good chance he can make the NHL roster if he continues to have a good season and summer workouts.

The knock people have on him is his foot speed. He is a bigger guy and while his foot quickness isn't great, his speed is deceptively faster than people give him credit for.

Is he 2way ready, meaning he's also above average on D?

Posters will keep on spelling Nolan Allan's last name as Allen.

Musto will continue to be on a first name basis with Nazar. Upon his first multi-point game in Rockford, he'll post "If Frank isn't called up, burn the house down".

Despite solid production this year, Ryan Greene will not get his deserved prospect treatment on this board.

Bonus long shot: A young player on the Hawks will notice Kaiser's sister and try to become his(Kaiser's) best friend.
#'s 1-3 were lay-ups. Hell, even the thread starter now calls Nazar "Frank".

No updates on #4. Yet.

Always fun to have a place to post your season predictions. Post your 8 playoff teams from each conference. Also throw in any random predictions that you want proof that are written down.

I think Bedard will score 78 points.
I think Reichel won't be in this organization at year end.
I think Martinez and Brodie will be bad signings.
I think Rinzel has a huge year.
Whiffed on a lot. Martinez and Brodie are bad signings so got that right. Bedard scoring 78 looks like a good guess. Rinzel is having a huge year. Reichel will probably still be here.

Biggest whiffs are the Capitals, Lightning, Preds and Jets!!! but plenty of other misses like Bruins, Utah, Kings

Best right guesses compared to last year would be Wild playoff spot, Senators and Red Wings playoff spots

74 points for Hawks

Bedard 40 55 95 points
Vlasic takes a big step back trying to carry a pair by himself
Kurashev 25 35 60 points
Levshunov gets games by February
Korchinski struggles in AHL, concerns develop
Reichel is waived
Hall goes for a 2nd+ at the deadline
Nazar leads Rockford in scoring. Up in January.
-Dach comes up for some injury and becomes a bona fide top 6er
Hawks have a top 15 PK in NHL
Hawks have a bottom 5 PP in NHL
On pace for 59 points not 74

Bedard whiff
Vlasic kinda sorta.
Kurashev whiff
Lev not quite
Korchinski- true concerns did develop but then he really turned it on
Reichel Pending
Hall whiff
Nazar NAILED IT
Dach Kinda--- but not bona fine top 6
PK NAILED IT
PP WHIFF

The Capitals (and AO's season) combined with the Bruin & Rangers imploding really surprised me.
I was stuck between the Bruins and the Lightning taking a step back. As evidenced by me completely forgetting the Bruins in my ranking. I made the wrong choice on which team obviously, but I'm not exactly shocked by the Bruins.

Rangers similar boat but I figured they'd still hang on a bit longer. I am still just shocked about the Capitals. I thought they'd be terrible. For sure.

Funny thing is the team was vastly improved this season compared to last. The problem is that the gap between them and every other team (sans Sharks) was so big in 24 that in 25, there was zero improvement in the standings and minimal in points.

I keep thinking Tampa is due for a big step back. Traded Serge, Vasi isn't far removed from back surgery, and while Stamkos was terrible this year he still great in his final year in Tampa with 81 points in 79 games, that's a big loss.

That said I'd still gamble and try like hell to get a future 1st round pick out of them if you can. Pray it becomes a top 10 lottery ticket in the draft or two following this one.

Woof tons of misses for me.

When I was younger and taking Organic Chemistry in college, our final exam was a state-issued multiple choice exam. I needed a 70 on the final to pass the class with a "C". They gave us tons of practice exams, also multiple choice. So I took 3 or 4 of them and kept getting 30-40% on them. Finally I decided i'll go through and answer every question I think I know the answer to and guess the rest. Then before I finished I switched the answers for all of my guesses. It worked!! I ended up passing the final lol.

I'm doing something like that next season with this because I've got no idea what i'm talking about apparently

When we're talking about the Hawks potential acquisitions, I kind of compare the Hawks taking a chance on Laf like the Caps taking a chance with PLD. An guy with some baggage and a bad contract who needs a change in scenery. Pretty sure the Rangers aren't moving Laf at any price like the Kings did with PLD, but can always hope.

The Caps also added a smart trade (Chycrun) and a couple young guys busting out (Mcmicheal/Proteas). Caps did hit big on all 3 events simultaneously, on top of a shocking AO renaissance. Not a huge AO fan, but glad to see him have another chance and not play out the string on a shit team.
