Looks like Laba is hurt again. Didn't play in the second and third periods of last nights game and didn't play tonight. Still having a good year, but really a bummer for what could have been a huge season for him.

Right now Colorado is way outside the line to get an at large birth to the ncaa tournament. Unless Colorado wins its conference tournament Laba’s ncaa season will be over in a few weeks. This is not the result he wanted when he turned down the Rangers to go back to Colorado.

If Laba had to have an injury ridden season then having it while still in school is better other things being equal. Silver lining or whatever you want to call it.

It's time for Laba to make the jump this spring. He can go to Hartford and eventually live in Trochek's basement and have Vinny/JT in his ear all the time.

Lamb probably gets signed but the odds are at best he turns into a diet version of present day Kaliyev in the AHL.

Kravtsov is 25 now and probably a stronger player heading into his prime years. He's always had talent. His issues were mental and physical maturity. He always struggled in the NHL and he didn't want to play in the AHL and so struggled when he was there too.

The Rangers should have taken someone else in that draft. There really wasn't all that much to get super excited about other than the one pretty good KHL playoffs he had. A lot of guys in that particular draft disappointed and even Dobson who is a good player and would have been my No. 1 choice when our pick came around can be a defensive nightmare. Wahltstrom's kind of been a flop. Farabee okay. Bouchard's good but defensive issues too.
In his later years running the draft, Gordie Clark fell too in love with prospect playoff performances over regular season consistency.

Clark did not age that well. That said the Rangers didn't always give him a lot to work with. 4 successive drafts without a 1st rounder. Then Andersson--Chytil---that was kind of a mediocre draft. The Chytil pick was fine. Clark and his staff could have done better than Lias for sure but there were a bunch of other teams whose 1st rounders either underwhelmed or busted too. The draft after that was Kravtsov, K'Andre, Lundkvist. Then the Kakko draft and I think his last one was 2020---I'm not sure that he was kind of already being sidelined but that one was Lafreniere, Schneider, Cuylle, Berard, Garand, Rempe. That one is an outstanding draft. Rangers could have 6 regulars out of it and they're all still with us.

Based on who was picked in the last years of Clark, i would guess that Bobrov had a larger say on who NYR would draft

Until that year you mean?

That was a pretty heavy North American draft. Almost every European player drafted while Bobrov was here ended up sucking or underwhelming outside of Chytil.

The only guy drafted in the first 6 rounds who has no shot of doing anything at the NHL level is the only European player taken in that draft.

EJ Emery has been suspended one game along with Zeev Buium for an altercation they had at the end of the Denver/North Dakota game this past Saturday. Apparently they were throwing punches. NCAA doesn't like that.

He was feisty that game. There was another play where someone he had knocked down was holding his stick so he gave the guy a couple good cross checks to the upper body while he was laying on the ice.

Sometimes you can get into just one of those moods where everything pisses you off. Usually it's not good to repress everything.

Hey if we're just gonna just stat-watch the KHL and question whether Kravtsov's possibly "turned a corner" why don't the Rangers just pick up his teammate, the diminutive Maxim Shabanov, who has outscored Kravtsov both this year and last year while being a year younger...

True that. Chicks dig injured players. He's likely getting a lot of sympathy attention at the house parties this year.

Drew Fortescue definitely has that in his demeanor too.

Re. Kravtsov - not just stat watching. He is having a truly break-through season playing more responsibly in all types of important minutes including PK. Not saying he's coming back to the Rangers, but it is not unusual for a Russian player to come back and then give it a second chance once a player is more mature (no guarantee it will be successful)

Re. Laba - not an angle I was considering but you're not wrong ;)

I'd still rather have Shabanov, if only to piss a whole group of people off!

I doubt he'd be back here unless Drury is gone.
