He's actually a Kraken prospect, that's ND for Notre Dame.

He came through the USNTDP, and I don't remember him being a douche. But I haven't followed him at Notre Dame.

didn't a kid on this years u18 ntdp team go down from a knee on knee in a game against nd? no clue who it was that hit him but pretty sure that happened against nd too

Luckily, looking at the replay it didn’t look like the knee got hyper extended or twisted much. Looks like blunt trama. Bruising/Charlie horse would be the best case scenario.

Since we are going into rebuild/retool mode soon.

What is the realistic eta for Emery and Fortescue?

Is there any chance either sign this spring?
We aren't going into rebuild mode.

There will be some moves to replace the rotten core though.

Neither Emery or Fortescue will sign this spring. (ok maybe Fort has a 10%, Emery 0%)

Well i know we need defensemen and these are our top 2 d prospects. I just dont know how close they are to NHL ready.

We need 2-3 dmen in the near future most likely.

I would say best case for Fortescue is he signs after next season and then spends a whole year in the AHL before being ready for a cup.

Emery is probably four years out. He has some great tools but there's still a lot he needs to work on.

Of course if they actually blew it all up, which I don't think they will, then you could see the kids earlier. But in general think 3-4 years IMO.

Thankfully we have Mancini who is looking like one.

Fox, Miller, Mancini, Jones for now. Hopefully we can grab a good young LD from a Kreider trade, and another from a Trouba/Lindgren trade.

Fort and Emery are longer term projects. I don't expect them in the NHL for 2-4 years truthfully.

If BC wins the national championship I think the Rangers will aggressively court Fortescue to sign immediately.

Dont we basically need to sign him after next season since he will be a junior?

I wouldnt want him going to be a senior and having the right to walk away from us for nothing.
We've got time. Even if he does go back for his senior year, that doesn't mean he won't sign with us. Hagelin spent 4 years at Michigan and still signed with us.

I would think both Fortescue and Emery do at least 3 years and both might need a year or year + in Hartford. They're both primarily stay at home D.....as is Mancini. Mancini is this year showing his first real glimmers of an offensive game. How much that improves remains to be seen and in the cases of Fortescue and Emery they might just turn out better skating and larger versions of Lindgren. It doesn't naturally follow that defensemen whose primary trait is to defend will develop an offensive game. Both Fortescue and Emery also need to fill out some and get stronger. There's no point rushing them.

It's been a road for Zac too. He signed at the conclusion of the 20-21 college season and he's finally getting to play more regularly this year and however anyone feels about whether he should have been playing more the last couple years after leaving college he was still needing to develop aspects of his game and he's worked hard at figuring out how a smaller defenseman can play better defensively. It isn't easy for a lot of players his size.

Emery is 6'3 but stick thin at 185 lbs. Almost no body fat which speaks to the great shape he's in but he's not going to play in the NHL at 185 lbs. no matter what his body fat is. He's going to need to get into the 200 range anyway. Fortescue is 6'1/6'2 and is listed at 176 lbs. most everywhere. I don't think that number is accurate anymore but what he's actually at....? He played well at the WJC's last year and at BC but he's not shown a lot of offense. From what I've seen of him the game he had last year was similar to how Ryan Lindgren plays though in college he can push players around a bit more than Lindgren can at the NHL level. With more weight, strength and development he could turn out to be a similar player to Lindgren.....maybe more effective than Ryan if he can get his weight and strength up enough. These things don't happen overnight.

Weird period for Perrault.

He’s handling the puck like a grenade but more involved than any other player still. He had like 2 semi-breakaways. Could have had 5 points in that period alone.

Aspinall had 3 assists. He had been cold. Now has 7-10-17 in 21 games.

Rasmus Larsson is still looking for his first point. He had one earlier in the season but they took it away. NMU only has 1 win and 1 OTW in 12 games this season.

Zak Karpa was without a point and is scoreless in 7 games this season.

It's 1-1 late and Brody Lamb has an assist on the Minnesota goal. He's fourth on the team in scoring behind Snuggerud, another first rounder in Mattered Wood, and a TB pick.

Nothing for Henricks, who has 3 points in 11 games so far as a freshman.
