Did the Kings get more for De'Aaron Fox than the Mavs did for Luka?

Eh, they got more stuff. Levine was on the market as a pure cap dump last year an no one wanted him. But he is good enough to maybe keep them in playoff contention this year. The Charlotte pick is a fake first round pick that only conveys if the Hornets make the playoffs. So it becomes 2 more seconds. 2027 SA should be a pick in the 20s. Min 2031, might be a decent asset, but it is in 6 years.

So no they did not get more than the Mavs did for Luka, as the Mavs got a top 15 NBA player.

At least this one’s been rumored for weeks

Yeah Fox shot his way out of town, and ultimately demanded to go to SA so Sacramento had no real choice.

Kings did really well imo, honestly think Lavine is a better fit for them than Fox anyway- Monk has been acting as their primary PG lately so putting a great shooter next to him instead of Fox is a good idea

I started to read this and had to quit. I'm not sure a trade has ever made me want to stop following an entire league before.

Idk, the final value is probably way off but I can’t see Luka aging well at all and it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s totally irrelevant before 35. I hate his game, I hate watching him and he’s legitimately fat and breaking down at 25. I’m not really bothered at all because his outlook is so dim in my opinion. He could always change that around but what indication is there of that?

Wayne Gretzky got traded.

Anyone can be traded.

You don't give him away for a package at least 26 teams would have dwarfed by 400%.

I can’t figure out why they would rush it. Even if you were so determined to move him because you don’t want him around for 1 more second, you could likely get more from a shitload of teams I agree. I’m just trying to care and I don’t.

When Nico Harrison is named Nike CEO in 17 months I bet you'll have some thoughts.

I totally get where the Mavericks are coming from- you’re not gonna win a title with this level of effort from your star, and if he can’t get up to play D in the finals then when will he?

The problem is not letting other teams know and getting the best offer. I think AD is awesome and if my life was on the line and I had to choose between AD and Doncic to win a game I’d choose AD….but he’s on the back 9. Luka is very much still on the front 9. Sure he could be broken down and useless by age 32, but that’s 7 years of Oscar Robertson numbers away!

The story about Pelinka talking Harrison out of a deal that also included Reaves, Knecht, and another 1st because of concerns with Luka's conditioning is what killed me. People still would have crushed him for it, but at least it would have been somewhat defensible.

I hate videos like that because the answer clearly is, “anyone who watched him a week later”

So the Butler deal turned into a 4 team trade:

to Golden State:Jimmy Butler ( from Miami )

to Miami: Andrew Wiggins( from Golden State ), P.J. Tucker ( from Utah ), Kyle Anderson ( from Golden State ) and Golden State's 2025 1st round pick ( top 10 protected, if not used in 2025 then becomes top 10 protected in 2026 and if not used in 2026 then becomes unprotected in 2027 )

to Detroit: Lindy Walters ( from Golden State ), Josh Richardson ( from Miami ) and a future 2nd round pick from Golden State

to Utah: Dennis Schroder ( from Golden State ) and a 2031 2nd round pick ( better pick of Miami or Indiana )

This almost turned into a 5 team trade as Anderson was supposed to end up in Toronto but that part of the deal fell through:

I honestly thought the Celtics would at least make it close when that goofball 76ers players did the " it's over " gesture late in the 3rd Quarter. Somebody needs to tell him that you don't do that kind of crap to the Champs.

This Celtics team so different from the way things were five to seven years ago. They no longer have to be front runners to win. They can dig themselves out of big holes and bury teams late. It's amazing how much Brown and Tatum have learned to work together and just become an undeniable force in the NBA. And Porzingis, as well as Holliday and D White, have been real game changers to this team as well. I've never been happier to be a Celtics fan in my life.
