NHL 2024 - 2025 Out of Town IV

I'd rather see them speak the truth to each other in the locker room and not broadcast it to the entire world. Easy way for you to lose the trust of the room as a coach when you run to the media about team problems and name drop specific players IMO.

I agree. Deboer is toast and based on this incident I hope to God the Bruins steer clear of him.

These articles say that players sign with all teams. Sure I don’t disagree. These articles also say the average savings per player is minimal.

These articles do nothing to overcome the fact that this isn’t a question about whether 4th line guys or a 7th defenseman will still sign anywhere they get a deal.

If they don’t break it down and somehow focus on the most highly sought free agents then I don’t know what we are doing here or why we are doing it.

its nothing more than a crutch for people who root for a team with a crap GM.

Teams have advantages in FA, sky is blue, water is wet.

Toronto/NYR have an advantage in sponsorship opportunities
Boston/Detroit/Montreal have an advantage in being historical franchises
The 7 Canadian teams have an advantage since players know how rabid and supportive the fan bases are
LA/Vegas/Florida/Tampa have an advantage in weather
Edmonton can sell a FA on "come play with McDavid"
Colorado can sell a FA on "come play with Mack and Makar"

and another thing, what big FA signings have Tampa or Florida benefited from? Kucherov/Hedman/Vasy/Point were all drafted. Barkov was drafted, Tkachuk and Bennett were traded for

Well that’s a new argument that has nothing to do with what I have said.

At the end of the day I don’t disagree with the bolded and I’m not arguing something needs to be done about it.

On the other hand your first two sentences almost had me not read your opinion. I wouldn’t call it a crutch as much as an interesting situation. I imagine most of the ‘crutch’ people would similarly disagree with that vey weak part of this argument.

Palmieri is one that most would do though.

Consistent 20 goal guy that plays a game that has aged well. just under 5 million for that might actually be a bargain given the pants on head stupidity we're going to see in free agency with the cap going up plus there being so few actual big names.
