Drury instead of KK definitely makes this better for Colorado but i still lean in favor of Carolina.

Carolina definitely comes out of this a bit better off, but Colorado likely got the best possible return they could, or close to it, for a star that was otherwise just going to walk. They've also still got some cap space to play with, so I doubt they're done yet. We'll see what they end up, but my guess is they're probably pretty happy with their work here.

Canes now have to be favorites to win the east, depending on how much Florida are fatigued after last year.

Blackhawks give up Hall AND retain half of Rantanen’s salary. They get a third round pick. WTF

There was somebody on the Bruins beat that suggested there was indications Nathan MacKinnon was pushing for his "friends from nova scotia" to get brought in for a playoff push.

Kevin Weekes on twitter is saying keep your eyes on Pittsburgh.

If i had to guess it was probably Karlsson. There were murmurs the Pens would try to move him, but at the same time Frank Seravelli said the Rantanen deal wasn't the only big one on the table as someone posted here.

...There's no possible way it's who what the rumors might be pointing at right? That deal would result in Dubas having to be put in Witness Protection

Yeah that's the bit I don't understand. Hall is not the player he once was, but to give him up plus take on salary for only a 3rd definitely seems like selling yourself short on Chicago's part, while under no pressure to do so. Weird.

This is the one thing I don't like about the draft system. Too often young stars like Bedard get buried and wasted for too long with dud franchises that don't have a clue what's going on.

I hate Carolina, but I hope Hall finds success there. Seemed like a guy that was just happy to be part of a winning organization when he was here. Then he ended up in Chicago.... Not what he once was, but as a secondary piece, I think he's still a good addition.

Not very often you see a player of Rantanen's status traded mid-season. Have to believe his demands just got the point where it became clear there was no future in Colorado. More of a classic "hockey trade" than a pure sell, but not sure it's what I would call a haul. Though I question what Necas actually is.
