NHL 2024- 2025 Out of Town II: JT Miller to Rangers

Chytil, Mancini and a protected 1st.
OR
Geekie, Gallagher and a protected 1st.

Comparable? Which package is better? I guess it depends on whether Chytil can stay healthy. I really like his game when he's on, but the fact that health is even a question makes me think Geekie is more valuable. Chytil missed an entire season with PCS.

The other factor, of course, is the NMC. The Rangers have been winning and Boston has been losing. JTM has played there before. Even if our package was marginally better, it may not have mattered.

With Miller off the board and Yanni Gourde out long term with a sports hernia the top name left on the Athletics trade board is Brock Nelson and Frederic would currently be 5th.

Marchand instantly becomes the top name on the market if he's made available, Carlo and Coyle would be up there as well.

Rangers are making moves despite a poor season. Sweeney is too p***y to annoy his depth players by trading them.

Maybe….could also be that Miller didn’t want to come here.

I’m as antsy as anyone here for the changes that we all hope will be coming, but I don’t think we can judge Sweeney’s willingness to do something, based on one or two trades 5 weeks from the deadline.

Thank God Yanni Gourde is out. If the Bruins acquired that guy I'd grab a pitchfork and join the fire Sweeney mob.

It does bode well for Boston as a seller. Less inventory = higher prices.

Kind of crazy that Vancouver turned down Necas only to end up with Filip Chytil

Not doubting you, but where did you see that?

Seems like Necas alone is worth more than the pieces they ended up getting.

Did Miller say no to Carolina?

Sorry I actually got this a little mixed up lol this drama has been going on for so long that its hard to keep track of at this point.

Apparently last season there were talks about a Necas for Pettersson trade before EP signed his extension but the trade obviously went nowhere. This year in the last couple weeks per Greg Wyshynski the Canucks were actually the ones who asked for Necas in a potential Miller trade but the Canes said no.

So yea I got my trade rumors crossed up and Chytil now makes perfect sense

It’s totally fair if Miller didn’t want to come here and forced the hand.

But the Bruins could have demolished that return. Absolutely slaughtered it. And it still would have made the team better now and in the future.

We don’t know if Sweeney cared to try, or if Miller cared to consider Boston.
