I see a guy who's struggling to adapt to playing on a good team. Last year, there was so little talent around him that he was given this freedom to basically do whatever he wanted. There was even talk of "imagine what his numbers would have looked like if he had skill to play with". Unfortunately, as the team around him has gotten better, his impact has diminished. Other guys have taken the lead. So much so that in the last game I watched, about a week ago, they had taken him off the first power play unit.
He also has some of the worst body language I've ever seen in a player wearing an A. Not to invite speculation, but maybe there is more going on behind the scenes. He doesn't look like a happy player.
