I’m not so sure about Halliday anymore. I think I like Montgomery over him but the next year should answer some questions
I'm still a believer. He needs to get to point per game pace in the AHL to show he deserves a shot in Ottawa's top 9. After a slow start, he's getting there. His team worst -13 is not good, however.

He has above average playmaking and an underrated shot. He'll never be a gritty, physical type, but there's still a lot of potential to his game.

Well Mongomery came from a lower league IMO & is now playing for the power house London Knights. I imagine his size is helpful in a junior league but he does have some skill to him although he isn't a very physical player which but could be if he gains more weight.

Halliday on the other hand is playing in a pro league against men & while he has had a slow start but has started coming on of late. I'm not sure Halliday has the skating or speed for the NHL, but he certainly seems to have the skillset, while I don't see him as a top six player he might be able to forge a career in the bottom six, We'll probably see him sooner or later given an opportunity.

Would you rather get called up and sit on the bench for 3 games with 0 TOI or stay with your club and play a big role?

It's a good question.

I would have to think it is the goal of every developing player to keep moving up the ranks and playing/being in the best possible league that you can play/be in. There's certainly value in being around and practicing at a higher level.

On the flip side, at what point does it hurt your development to not be playing in the actual games and in theory, playing a lot of minutes at that lower level.
