2024 2025 Injury Thread Hf’s Longest Thread Just Got Longer

I've been saying they need a long term Manson replacement for the past year.

After this I've changed my mind. Replacing Manson is a bad idea because Manson is bad and another Manson replacement would be bad.

Getting a competent #4D even if he is 5'8" and literally falls apart like a Lego man when hit would be better than Manson. f*** the oh he's physical and occasionally doesn't suck in the playoffs.

Manson is bad. Injured often. Which is the best case with him since he can't be bad on the ice.

Manson bad.

You're just vieing for a new handle NOTENOUGHMANSONTHINGS....

I'm hoping we sign the big fella to be our 6/7 for another year or two.

Of course, I'm only hoping for that because it would infuriate you at this exact moment in time.

Time for a thread bump.

The only thing that bothers me about Manson really is how injury prone he is. I like how he plays for the most part, and I like him with Girard. Though this year they haven't been quite as good together.

I'm really nervous about how healthy he'll be when/if he comes back for the playoffs.

Another playoffs where he's much less effective because he's playing hurt, or like in 23 when he came back to start the playoffs, but could only play a few games before hanging em up of the year, could really hurt this team's chances at a Cup, given their depth on D.

It would force EJ and Malinski to really play the best hockey they possibly can, with very little margin for error, in bigger roles than the team planned for.

You and others wanted to acquire another RHD. It’s the old PO test. Can you stay healthy enough to play effectively? I’d just as soon Manson be put on rest until the POs. He’s a vet so I don’t think he needs a lot of games beforehand to be effective at the start of the POs.

Yeah, they really should LTIR him and someone else if there is any chance Landeskog can get a couple regular season games.

Then as long as Nelson signs for a reasonable amount trade Manson, Colton, Wood etc and use whatever you get back to buy someone like Trouba, Pyrako, Andersson whatever.

Trouba is at least interesting in theory as a replacement.

Or he is he truly dead, not worth it?

If not that, think I’d rather see them go 7D than play Wood if EJ really is an option
Remember when folks kept wanting us to play anyone but Georgiev... but a lot of other posters kept saying our best hope is for him to regain form?

I kinda wonder if this is what Bednar is doing by rotating all the guys through. He's trying to find out whose in the best form moving forward. He's actually got to give Wood the rope to fail (considering his contract) but I wouldn't expect to see that rope extend into the playoffs. He might be searching, looking for chemistry and testing folks right now, but he will 100% be icing the team he thinks has the best chance each and every night in the playoffs. If Wood doesn't self-correct, he'll be the odd man out.

In 2022 JB decided to pass on pursuing the President’s Cup even though the team could have secured it. Instead, the last 2-3 weeks of the RS, JB was icing the weirdest combination of personnel. I think one of the reasons he did that was as a stress test to see how the team could perform in anticipation of player unavailability due to injury.

I think XF may have the Avs medical staff, because day to day has become week to week.
You do realize the Avs medical staff consists of one person...Miracle Max...

The fact that he was also the team masseuse is why Boikov bailed in a huffy. Apparently Sergei doesn't like it when men go through his pockets looking for loose change.

Your wish will be granted. They'll sign Manson for 3 years at 3.25 millions. And he will play like their #6/7.

Enjoy!

It's a pretty decent strategy. See what works and what doesn't now that the playoffs are secure. You can't move up in the standings and even going down would arguably bring an easier 1st round matchup.

There was some talk in the past that teams can't just flip a switch, but sure they can. The 2022 team went from late regular season hibernation to an absolute machine.
