I think that was a given, especially since they wouldn't have the cap room to activate him even if he was able to play right now. Always seemed like it was going to be a Mark Stone situation...if at all.
Even that seems out of reach at this point.

I think Gabe just needs to focus on quality of everyday life at this point. Any type of pressure on that knee in hockey likely means lots of bad things for him doing daily things.
I think one huge reason he's trying so hard to get back is that I don't think it affects his regular life from what I've read and heard. I think this injury is strictly in the hockey sense, I don't think he's going to have trouble walking the rest of his life or anything; at least I haven't heard anything like that. Meanwhile, Lonzo Ball is playing and doing well and even signed an extension. Let's hope Gabe can get back, but maybe let's wait until the playoffs at this point.

I think you're right. However, another blow to that knee could change his everyday too. I don't think it would have to be anything dramatic either. I assume his doctors know best and it's his life.

Yeah, that's a little far into the weeds for me to speculate on but I just assume from the intense rehab and work he's been doing for 2 years that he can push it pretty well. To be fair, any NHL player is a moment away from a lifelong limp any game so hopefully his risk is no greater than anyone else's.

What I do start to wonder now that the season is dwindling down, where the line is -- like if he can't make it back this season or playoffs, is he going to keep going and try for next season again? I know the dude is tough as nails in every way, but that would be enough to drive any person mad.

They have to use Landy’s LTIR money to fix the roster (specially the defense ) otherwise let’s say Landy came back in the regular season with like few weeks left until the playoffs, and we go into the playoffs with this current d core, the Avs won’t even win a round. At this point it’s pretty much a must to keep Landy on LTIR and they know it

They have been.

They have, and they haven’t.

Avs have like 4.5-5.5M of LTIR space to use.

They've been using it the entire time, they just haven't been using all of it. But they clearly will be. $4.7M is what they have left today and we absolutely know CMac isn't done making moves.

By March 7 they'll be right up to the very limit.

Yeah that’s what I meant. They’ve been using his space but not fully. So we’re not really a cap team, we’re 5Mish under the cap.

If I'm not mistaken, Landeskog said his knee wasn't giving him problems doing anything beyond playing hockey.
Unfortunately he is, or was, a player in the NHL.....

But glad to hear is daily life isnt influenced any further. Glad for him and his family, especially kids....The most important thing. Its not worth to sacrifice even more for one, or a few games in the NHL.

So either the AVS win an oscar for the best LTIR-Screenplay this year when Landy steps on the ice for game 1 (i highly doubt that) or, and thats just my honest opinion, the ship has allready sailed and at least Bednar and CMac know the captain wont be back ever again.

However, Landy fullfilled his big dream, won the cup (not only for himself), and sacrificed his career to do so..... What a captain....And what a bittersweet ending....
