I also doubt Makar's going to be playing 30 minutes a night for Canada.

Makar is definitely hurting from that shot he took a couple games ago imo.
Remember that superhero film with Samuel Jackson and his bones just break whenever someone looks at him harshly?

Yeah, that would be me. I don't understand how any of these guys can absorb full force of a shot and continue to function in any capacity. I would look like a soccer player who got caught by a stiff breeze. I would be flipping and flopping uncontrollably in pain for like 20 minutes before they had to stretcher my dumb ass off the ice.

That was a huge hit too. He didn't brace himself or roll off the hit because he didn't see it coming. Whether it's fighting, or hockey hits, that always does the most damage.

I was worried about a concussion at the time from the whiplash. Shows how well conditioned Cale is that he could finish his shift and continue to play after such a big hit.

This team has a history of diagnoising concussions after players came back or even played games in between though.

Hope it's just maintanence.

I can relate. I slipped on the ice last fall and thought I broke my hip. I couldn’t sit right for two weeks. I pulled a shoulder muscle passing a pot of potatoes across the table a while back. It sucks getting old haha.

I am Still guessing foot, and probably a bone bruise or small fracture. I Still hate that he is playing in the 4 nations when he really needs the rest. I am very curious to see the intensity of play in that event. While I want to see the best vs the best, if a big star goes down for their team's cup run from it, it will look moronic.

I understand, and in this case there is a real and serious concern that there could be something wrong that he is going to aggrivate or that this is something that will either continue to hamper him all season... but the week or so off would possibly help.

But I've been shocked by the number of people, not just you, that have been making comments to the effect that our players shouldn't go to the they tourney because they've been over-played and need a rest.

These guys haven't been able to pull on their respective nations' jersey as men in an international best of tourny. I can't imagine wanting to tell any of these guy maybe they should reconsider playing because the NHL season is more important... especially since the NHL is the one hosting the damn tournament.

I think the timing is dumb. The NHL complains about shutting down the league for the Olympics, so why model them for when you host your own damn tournament? This, and all future Four Nations/World Cups should be held either the final week of August or the first week of September. Everyone's bumps and bruises from the previous playoffs will have healed as much as they are going to and if anyone is injured, they have the entire NHL season to get right and playing again before the playoffs begin.

Agreed on the timing, late August would be perfect, as a warmup for the season.

Yep. A few years back, I dislocated my right thumb just pulling a laptop out of a backpack. Still hurts and swells up all the time. Really manly...

This past August, I popped something in my right pec/neck/shoulder just bending over and cutting branches with a pair of loppers. Still going to PT for it 5 months later.

Not quite at that point yet but when I was younger I could go to a metal show, get 3 hours of sleep and go to work, these days I have to request an extra day off, sleep a good 10 hours and still be in pain for 3-4 days.
