@dahrougem2 , I found Henchy's post

Grain of salt this, but the timeline as I was told was this. He was ramping up and skating heavily again. On a routine checkup, there was a significant amount more inflammation than expected. So it was decided to stop activities and give it a bit of rest. With the goal of checking in prior to US Thanksgiving (my take, but wasn't explicit this meant some skating prior). If that goes well the ramp will start again after Thanksgiving with a target of January. If it does not, they will punt until the new year with a target of returning after the 4 Nations.

A routine checkup finding inflammation that presumably couldn't be seen, and the knee supposedly blowing up with swelling after every skate, are kind of different though.

Sure, but if the knee is gonna blow up with swelling after skating, why didn't it earlier in the rehab?

I'm just a bit skeptical of the whole thing, but that doesn't mean it isn't true.

Or they're like, we gotta show Gabe skate again at some point, so when he skates well, they leak out that he gets "swelling" so they can't take him off LTIR yet.

That's my confirmation biased suspicion/hope though.
Yes, yes Severalli spread that delicious Avs propaganda.

I know Seravalli isn't popular here these days because he doesn't say what people want to hear but he's very legit.
He's one of the few legit insiders yes, but I feel like he has started to throw more shit on the wall in the last few years. And he also tends to overdramatize stuff. I mean during late summer he said Draisaitl and Oilers were miles apart in negotiations and then he signed like less than a week from that.

With every insider you have to be very careful at what they say, to differentiate between whats legit info and what's their "gut feeling" on something. I think Friedman tends to do a good job with very clearly splitting the difference. Seravalli and Dreger, not so much. LeBrun and CJ are somewhere between EF and Seravalli/Dreger.

So in this instance, I have a feeling it's more or less "old info" what Seravalli has. Not saying he's wrong in saying a return isn't close, but I don't know if he would've gotten information about how Landy's knee is feeling a day after he was at a morning skate. That might've been the issue during autumn, like henchy reported here. Where things stand now, who knows.

Not that any of this really matters, 'cause we can't afford to activate him anyway.

Very good news. High ankle sprain is what I was worried about the most, given how logn they take to heal, and how easily they can be re-injured.

Especially as a goalie. For anyone that's ever had a high ankle sprain, the idea of pushing off hard from side to side coming off a high ankle sprain, sounds horrific. That's the worse motion for that injury.

All that pressure right in the injured spot on the side of the leg, above the ankle. Every push you'd be waiting for it to feel like someone hitting you in the leg with a sword.
