With what we saw on the beginning of the year this has been my theory as well.

They had to set the tone of a set back for cap reasons. I mean one can at least dream right?

Should be easy to pull off if they want. Just don't rub the league's face in it, by skating at full speed in practice every day.

After watching Mark Stone go on LTIR until Game 1 of the playoffs, because the league couldn't prove his back didn't hurt, what are they gonna say to Gabe?

"Oh the experimental knee surgery, that nobody has ever had in hockey before, that you almost had to retire from, is 100% healed and you're ready to play, so you can't stay on LTIR any more." - Dr. Bettman.

If we assume everyone is perfectly healthy for the next game (Yes I know won't be, yes, I know Landeskog might never return, but assume he does and assume everyone is healthy), how do you set the forward lines?

Drouin - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Lehkonen - Mittelstadt - Nichushkin
Landeskog - Colton - O’Connor
Wood - Kelly - Kiviranta

If healthy means Landeskog is as good as he was before, then I think he definitely plays in the top six.

Well no shit. That's obvious.

But that's a very big if.
Yeah the asker mentioned that. In this hypothetical world where everyone is healthy, I would play Landeskog in the top six because he enables the other skaters to focus on offense and that's wasted on Colton and Wood. I'd have him on Rantanen's line. Drouin similarly works best with MacKinnon, which leaves out Lehkonen as the one on a 3rd line.

All the negativity here and honestly, I don't blame people since this has gone on for 3 years HOWEVER imagine he returned in the playoffs and was able to reunite that line would get me f***ing going.
I'd like to see this happen, I think we all would. It's not like we're rooting against him. Well, I guess some here do root against the team, but they don't count as they shouldn't be here.

When in LTIR can Landy participate in team practice or does he need to be activated before to IR or something?

There would be a lot of ass slapping on that bench if this were to happen. 9296 is the stuff of Avs legend honestly.
