Injury Report: 2024-2025 Injury thread | HF’s Longest Thread Just Got Longer

What kinda hat are we talkin? Baseball? Ten gallon? Fedora? Top Hat? Canadian Mounty? Sombrero?
Yes. And on somenights it's a gimp mask.

Seriously though, ball caps, knit caps (keep me warm due bald head via chemo), and once upon a time...big hats. Still got a black felt and white straw hat. The beaver is Stetson and the straw is Resistol.

The leather on the gimp mask probably blocks the wind when you go to the grocery store in the winter. Smart choice. Makes trying samples harder though. Life is a give and take.

Avoiding the samples in Costco helps me keep the weight off.

[edit... Plus you'll be surprised how many people won't offer you a sample when walking around in a full leather gimp mask with rubber ball stuffed halfway through your mouth.]

Sergei Fedotov (he is Michkov's former agent, a Russian journalist and former scout for the Russian national team, a friend of Nichushkin):
"Nichushkin has had a chronic groin injury since his junior years. When he played in Dallas, it almost came to groin surgery. Now it has worsened, initially the team doctors told him that he needed 7-10 days of rest and everything would be fine, but when he resumed training, the pain did not go away. As a result, he flew to consult the doctor who performed Kane's hip surgery and this doctor, to put it mildly, told him that the team doctors were very wrong and more time was needed for recovery. It is expected that Nichushkin will return immediately after the break for the national team tournament. He also said that there is talk that Landeskog may also return to the team after this tournament."

Thank you for your input, but these Russian reports are always very sus with the amount of detailed info they have on personal matters.

Somehow they know how to characterize what the doctor said, and it happens to fit the narrative on the medical team?

How do we know the team doctors weren't the ones who recommended the second opinion from a specialist since it wasn't healing, and they're not specialists on groin tears. That's normal procedure. The specialist's response could easily have just been that he needed more time, not this, "they told him the team doctors were very wrong" characterization.

Groin injuries are very unpredictable. In every sport for decades, you'll see players go in and out of the lineup with groin injuries, and have very indefinite timetables on their return, because it's so hard to know when it's fully healed.

Don't get too comfortable doing this stuff. HFBoards has a "no babe's pic" policy. They let it slide for Landeskog and Lundqvist for some reason. I have it on good faith* from @RockLobster that @Frenchy hacked the "no babe pics" policy to allow these two to slide.
Well you know the old saying, "Rules were made to be broken"...but what you may not know is that Gabe Landeskog is the reason that saying exists.

I mean, I'm wholly comfortable with my sexual orientation/identity, but I also 100% "get it" with him.

Or, perhaps I can rely on the bards known as The Lonely Island to sum it up for me. Let's take their digital short "Roy Rules", and apply what is said about Andy's brother-in-law to all us men and Gabe Landeskog:

Between this injury and the suspension Nuke will play like 40 games this year ffs

Varly was the last one we had deal with groin issues right? He ended up having surgery. I think Luongo or the other Vancouver goalie went through that surgery. For goalies they were back playing, but still not 100% for a while. Varly has played for many years beyond that surgery.

I'm not really sure about it for skaters, but that's what we could be looking at.

I wonder if Nuke plays in the playoffs this year and then gets surgery.
