I feel like they already did that, but Monstar style where they sapped him of his abilities and left an empty husk. That’s the only explanation for him looking stellar, only for things to completely fall off with people coming back

A player can rest up and heal in the regular season. The playoffs doesn't allow for that otherwise your season may come to an abrupt end. The goal is to win. If you can sit out during the regular season until you're fully healthy, do it. If you have to play hurt in the playoffs when you know offseason is right around the corner, do it.
