Maybe they just aren't hungry any more. I dunno. Blowing it up is wishful thinking though. It's not as easy as it sounds unless you're literally trying to tank and have an empty arena on purpose.
I question this too... the shot they showed of Kuch taping his stick during the second intermission in game 1 was like a little kid in his own world preparing for a hockey 101 lesson lol. I do wonder how hungry they are as a group. The core, or at least what remains that was here during the b2b runs are 2x champs and pretty much each has significant history and hardware. Tough to replicate that kind of buy in especially when the supporting cast are guys that really haven't been deep except maybe once in their careers. Difficult to gauge but I'm sure there's an element of that too. Oh well. Kind of over the sulking and what not.Maybe they just aren't hungry any more. I dunno. Our core getting paid has a lot to do with it tooMaybe they just aren't hungry any more. I dunno. Blowing it up is wishful thinking though. It's not as easy as it sounds unless you're literally trying to tank and have an empty arena on purpose.
We'll have some cap space, and can possibly rework the bottom six again into a harder, physical group in free agency. This is a core that can’t beat Florida or Toronto anymore. If we’re good with just selling tickets and reminiscing about good times, then sure. Run it back. I believe a material shakeup of the roster is needed. Again, I don’t want to blow it up but go to Point and tell him we need a list. Sounds harsh, I get it. Desperate times, desperate measures

Both are high offense and one dimensional. It's easy to see. We suppressed the idea we wouldn't get curb stomped because we like a few guys in the bottom 6 but the defense is a mess and 50% of the forward group can't make an offensive play. The two best goal differentials in team history over an 82-game season (this would still be true even if 2019-'20 had played to its conclusion) were +89 in the 2018-'19 season and +77 this year.
0-6 in the playoffs thus far between those two teams.
Blashill is an ideal second-stint candidate. He took over for Mike Babcock in Detroit at 42 years old, made the playoffs in 2015-16 and then didn't qualify again for the next six seasons as Detroit slipped into a rebuild post-Lidstrom/Datsyuk/Zetterberg. Blashill has served as an assistant in Tampa Bay since then, learning under Jon Cooper. A few sources told us Anaheim would seem a likely fit, given its needs and the fact he worked under GM Pat Verbeek when both were in Detroit.
Hagel is the only one who looks like he cares every game, big reason is that he's always tenacious and he's never won a Cup.We are for sure being outclassed in just about every facet of the game right now. Panthers are the Bolts of a few years ago. They have a really heavy forecheck, smothering defense, they're fast, and tenacious. We have obviously taken a step back.
Someone noted that maybe the core guys just aren't as interested anymore. I'll parallel that with myself; I watched every Lightning game every season until they won the b2b. Ever since? Much muuuuuch fewer games. Just not as "fun" or "magical" anymore; it's hard to describe. So I would imagine the guys with all of their hardware who have done this every year of their pro careers just about, maybe they feel a little bit of that too, unconsciously.
He's hungry, but once he gets frustrated & can't get himself out of it easily, he pouts for awhile. Bad trend for sureTo say that Kuch aint hungry anymore is a nonsense. Yes he should play better and find a way to score (wow heard that hes last PO goal was in game 1 against TOR) I dont know what happend with core but they can and should play better, but lack of hunger is not an issue its something else
I remember him being frustrated at 2019 and now its a different stages of frustrationHe's hungry, but once he gets frustrated & can't get himself out of it easily, he pouts for awhile. Bad trend for sure
ThisLosing Hagel for a game or two would be the nail in the coffin. He's bringing the fire and with Celery hurt, we're in bad, bad shape.
Love my hockey team.
Hate what they are doing to my liver.
