Lilleberg-Perbix is just not good enough, and Lilleberg-Raddysh isn't any better. Either we need to go Hedman-Raddysh Moser-Perbix or we need to get a damn defenseman.

We don't "need" a defenseman, our 4 is fine and what's going to be playing most of the games in the playoffs. If there's a decent option to replace Lilleberg or move Moser down to 3LD then we're fine. Raddysh and Perbix are playing above their cap value anyways.

We don't really need an 8th NHL quality defender, but it's not like it can't happen.
Its not the overall quality but to fit a need, in the playoffs they'll want someone who isn't hurt/isn't McD/isn't Cernak, that can get in some lanes and eat a few shots while letting someone skate. Julien has gone after this a few times in the last few years, but I haven't kept up with whos available to fit that style at the deadline.

Can you recall who?

Suddenly the back half of the Atlantic got a lot more interesting. 3-5 points up on Ottawa, MTL and DET. Columbus is kinda in the mix too. Bruins are in trouble. That certain playoff spot for the Lightning is feeling just a bit tenuous. Obviously expect MTL and DET to cool off.

Raddysh is a +7 and sneeze away from tying the entire combined production of Glendening, Girgensons, Ace and Atkinson at a whopping 17 points combined from 4 guys. Maroon could chirp an entire line that it took half a season for them to match his point totals from his last season here

Girgensons can have 2 points all year but it's the children who are wrong: Perbix, Lily and Raddysh

Detroit's cooling off starts tonight.

My wishlist would be Kunin, Olivier and a capable RHD. The team doesn't "need" two more forwards obviously, I'm just being greedy here. I do wonder about Geekie a little bit. I don't think he's a complete lock to be an everyday player in the playoffs with the way things have been trending lately. Atkinson would seem to be the automatic 13th forward with any new addition.

Atkinson, Goncalves, even Sheary (if he's still around by then), Howard etc gives you enough offensive depth to fill holes if any skill guys get injured. The battle tested guys will be tougher to account for, hence Kunin and Olivier.

Kunin was a high pick and started out putting up solid numbers early in his career, can't fault him for not producing a ton with the abysmal Sharks. But as a RH shot, he could be dynamite alongside Cirelli and Hagel even though he isn't viewed as a top 6 player.

I'd rather go for a younger guy from a team looking to shake things up (Vancouver, Buffalo) than get a guy whose production is likely to drop off over the next few years.

The lack of offense from our 4th is beyond worrisome. It's a tragedy. We need the odd goal from them and whenever I look at Girgensons, Glendening, and Ace killing plays, it's all but confirmation those three together won't provide it. They suck together and Girgensons is one of the worst offensive players I think ive seen in a number of years. Dude looks like he's playing his own game when he's out there and the goal is never to actually create a chance. Ace is kind of a one trick pony. If it wasn't for the edge he brings to his game, he'd be my shortlist to deal at TDL for an upgrade.

4th line and Atkinson are all awful offensively. Thats a fact.

With the cap going up by a lot in the next few years (was rumored to possibly be 97M next season - escrows announced to be paid in full by january to me confirms the bump is gonna be quite high... and not only this year) puts the Lightning in a very interesting position, that I really thought we wouldn't get to witness:
core players all locked up, only Ace to extend.
This means JBB has around 15M to actively improve the roster.
This puts Tampa in a good spot not only to complete the re-tool by adding some good players during the summer, but JBB could go out at the deadline and get a good player on an expiring contract (with some retention) and extend him in the summer. This opens up quite a few more possibilities for JBB.
I'm honestly ready to see some fireworks either at the deadline or during the summer.

All this seems impossible considering we just added Guentzel and JJ Moser this past summer.

Exciting times ahead, our window is and will stay wide open.

The 4th line of Girgensons-Glendening-Eyssimont was pretty good so I hope we go back to that. Other than that our biggest issue is the third line being shit. Also while the top line is good they really aren't as dominant as you'd think with the players on it. I say we get someone for the top line and put Guentzel with Paul and fix all our problems at once.

I don’t think they’ll put a $9M player on the 3rd line.

I’d like to see what Cirelli and Hagel can do with Guentzel. We already know those two with Kuch is a weapon but it’s hard to imagine splitting up Point and Kuch for long in the playoffs. Plus I haven’t seen much juice with Point and Guentzel without Kuch.

Bottom line is we need another top six forward or a 3C so that Paul can just play with Hagel and Cirelli regularly.

I think the best move is to use one of our 2nd rounders and find a 3C.

Ryan Strome I think could be good pickup. He's got two more years left on his 5m deal and could be dealt this offseason if we want to.

We could also target a young player under team control looking for a pay day this offseason, like when we dealt Ross Colton. With the extra cap space and small free agent pool we should be targeting players we want to keep past this year.

I'd like to see Guentzel-Cirelli-Paul.

We know Hagel works on the top line.

Who are these great players we'll be targeting in FA?
