Speculation: 2024-2025 General Lightning Discussion II: New year, same Cooper shell

I get not wanting to associate yourself with Tony, but what's with the groveling apology? It's not like he endorsed the guy.

I feel like this was more commonplace a year ago. I'm glad to see most of the public has lost its appetite for these kinds of theatrics ("Oh my God i almost had a conversation with someone I don't agree with; I must now apologize to all the people who do agree with me!")

I think Kakko would be a good add on the 3rd line with Paul and Ace/Chaffee. However, if the Rangers won't move him unless they get a 1st+, then Tampa should be looking elsewhere. A 2nd+mid round pick/B prospect as the base sounds about right, with maybe another small piece if necessary. He's never done better than .5 ppg or 18 goals I believe, and just because he was a former 2ov doesn’t mean Tampa (or any team for that matter) should be paying some exorbitant price for him imo.

Because it's idiotic bullshit. TDA might have some ass-backwards views and might be an all around horrible person. If you've been invited onto a hockey platform to talk hockey with him, none of that other stuff pertains. And even then, if Dom had second thoughts about it, he could've just said that ("I've had second thoughts about this and have decided it's not a good idea, and that's the extent of that"; something to that effect) and it would've been a more-than-sufficient explanation if he felt the need to disclose one.

Apologizing for it feels fake. Apologizing when you've done nothing wrong but feel the need to placate your audience is far more likely to make people see through your façade than anything else. He didn't fool anybody here, he just made himself look groveling and pathetic.

American politics leaves a lot for us to hate each other about as it is, we don't need to invent more reasons to hate other people on top of that.

In their own way both guys have fallen on the sword for making things needlessly political. I've gotten to the point where I don't care who wins what as long as I don't have to hear about it anymore. Justice is done

Our schedule so far has been hilarious.

In 29 games, we've played:

Central: 10 games
Metro: 9
Pacific: 7
Atlantic (our division): 3

There are five Western teams - Colorado, Winnipeg, Nashville, Minnesota, Vancouver - who we've already finished our home-and-home set with, while there's still five Atlantic teams we haven't even faced yet. And we'll still be waiting a while before we face Boston (1/9), Detroit (1/18), and most of all Buffalo, who we don't face for the first time this season until 3/6.

Agreed. I'm just glad people in general are dismissing the idea that social media bullies (who will attack Dom for speaking to TDA) are representative of real people in the real world. It seems like we have finally begun to see a backlash to that behavior. Like, two years ago, I don't think anyone would have bat an eye to this apology because similar stuff was happening everywhere. We would all just privately roll our eyes.

I am having Crow a la Jake this evening.

PM for recipe.

Dessert is humble pie.

Kucherov won the Hart and had just signed a sweet long term deal, but it was Edmonton asking for us to add Cirelli to make the deal work? Makes sense for Edmonton, they were the 2nd worst team in the WC that year, but the answer to us not capitalizing on a season where we set the NHL wins record was to jettison our best player? Something smells

Honestly 1 for 1 it's about exact value.
