You too. Always enjoy the discussion, even when we don't agree. Hope your holidays are great!

Same to the rest of you. You guys add a lot to the experience of being a hockey fan. Merry Christmas! :)

There's been a few new people in recent years which has been nice, but I kinda love how this sub-forum has mostly been the same cast of characters at least since I first signed up for HFBoards and that was almost 12 years ago now. Like a family, we all have our own thoughts and ideas. Unlike a family, all of us have the same common hopes.

It's been a little gift in itself that we look as good as we've looked at any point since our last SCF appearance. I have no idea what this season will hold moving forward, but at least it feels like I can dream on this team in a way that it was just obvious (and abundantly so in the case of last year) the last two seasons weren't good enough to go deep.

Yeah, we had some rough years before those cups haha. It's a nice little community here, and I appreciate it.

Agreed 100%. I sometimes make the mistake of reading the forums of larger fanbases and those might as well be the main boards with how toxic they are. I much rather have a forum like ours, and some other non hockey related sub forums are also way in terms on actual discussion. I joined this place soon to be eight years ago, and it still feels as if I'm one of the newer members here. I do wonder what this place will look like 10, 20 years from now. If it still exists at that point.

We have come a long way. This is one of few corners on this message board where winning a Cup made everyone better

Lol, no worries there. So many people here well into the 5-digits in post count while I'm still only around 7,400, combining my old account with this one. (When HF redesigned the website, the login procedures were changed and I'd forgotten the email account I used in 2013 for my original account. I wouldn't mind if the accounts could be merged but whatever.) But that's mostly because I generally disappear in the summer and often times don't see the games live because I'm out playing tennis.

One things the nerd in me has done with other sports that I follow is keep spreadsheets tracking information that I find interesting (and maybe/maybe not useful), I've started doing that this season with the Lightning. Here's just a small sampling:

Goals scored by period123OTT
scored4237443126
allowed223432290
difference203121

First goalSFSAratio
Home1240.75
Away6100.38
Overall18140.56
First goalWLT
Scored1053
Allowed662

In my notes, I consider any and all OT results to be ties.

I dunno, keeping notes helps give me reasons to try and stay educated and interested.

Perhaps I should try to get into something similar. Like 80% of my job is staring at spreadsheets anyway, so why not do it in my free time too, lol. Although I don't have time or energy to gather my own data, I should find someone else's database.

Tuch is a pipedream. He's too good and one of the few players that seem to care about playing in that team
I have more sympathy than I probably should for Buffalo (Being a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan will do that to you) so I say this with as much kindness as I can. I don't know if they are smart enough to not trade Tuch.

The list of teams who can beat us is very short if we land Tuch and have a meat head like Maroon whose sole job is to fight and cause problems if he isn't scoring. I don't want us to be a dirty team but we have seen for ourselves the edge it gives

Tuch isn't happening we don't have the cap space.

We could accrue enough cap space to have a 23 man roster, keep sheary in the minors and not need retention on Tuch but I doubt Buffalo trades Tuch without asking for a player back
The cap space is the tricky part but it has never been an obstacle. Again I'm not intentionally shitting on Buffalo but they look and act like a team who has Kevin with a "y" running their office. I legitimately don't think they are smart enough to not do the deal and Sabre fans are right about what they are saying

we WILL figure it out

Edit: As for the roster player we would trade... heck you can probably just sell a guy like Gonzo as part of a Hagel style trade. They might just say yes if you throw in a couple 1sts and Howard or Shaugabay. If they are just gonna go back to college and run out the clock on us so they can sign for whoever they want, then sell. I mean if they aren't gonna play for us then f*** it, there is no sense in keeping them

Chris Johnston linked Provorov to Tampa in a trade matchmaker article. I wish we would stop getting linked to him, hes terrible. I can't believe CBJ are asking for a 1st for him, it gives the same vibes as Arizona asking for a 1st for Dumba.

LD is definitely not an area of need, a long term answer at top 6 RW is the biggest move we can make. A top line LW that could push Guentzel down to #2 RW also accomplishes this IMO. Preferably our top 6 guy can shoot right as well, and we could use some size.

Maybe lack of attacking D makes us trying to trade for Provorov? Like the only one who can support Forwards is Hedman.
But I hope we wont trade for him,or if we trade we give like 4th rounder and 25%retain from Col xD
Marchenko fro Col we could use him at top 6,tgother with Point and Hagel

Dumba was healthy scratch in Arizona.
Provorov 35gp 3+10=13p +3 23:30 TOI

Please GOD no. Can we PLEASE leave it alone already? We have 4... 4 PLAYERS who can play pairing 1 if necessary and Raddysh who does it all the time. Our flaws are exclusive to the fact that our coaching staff elects for us to play without the puck for better than half the game. You could throw Stevens, Daneyko and Neidermayer back there and it won't matter. If you LET the other team have the puck, they're gonna shoot it at you. Provorov is the last possible answer to this problem.

Stop parking the bus and actually ATTACK the other team for a while longer. You'd be surprised how much less work Vasy is gonna have to do for another 10 minutes. Stop taking the foot off the gas halfway through the game just because you managed a lead at that point

Dumba's ATOI was 20:04, just because they are getting a lot of TOI doesn't mean they are good. Both Raddysh and Perbix have an equal or better ppg than Provorov playing in a 3rd pair role right now. Provorov is probably marginally better than Dumba, should maybe get a 3rd/4th rd pick but nowhere near a 1st.

Maybe lack of attacking D makes us trying to trade for Provorov? Like the only one who can support Forwards is Hedman.
