The NHL season is 82 games. Giving a guy 3-4 games, maybe a half hour of total ice time, shouldn't be too big of a burden.

I'm down with that. I'm just not down with initiating 3-4 trades and making that burden permanent.

An NHL call up can also be good for the player to realize how far they need to go. It could be productive if they frame it right.

sprong was just traded for nothing and we could use someone like him. he doesn't play any defense, but having any offense in the bottom six would help.

We’re 9th in GF/GP and 18th in GA/GP. If anything we need help defensively and/or in net (unless Point is out long term).
Also we might have the most empty net goals against in the league with Coop pulling the goalie with 5 minutes left all the time.

He’s got 1 goal and 2 assists in 9 games. Don’t think we want a floater that is a non-factor on offense and I dont know if he would be able to produce with whoever we have in the bottom six.
It’s possible that we could use someone like him on 2nd PP unit and limited even strength shifts.

All this talk about the bottom six and what marginal player or players we can add is just a lot of wasted space. There is no one out there that we can afford that will make the slightest bit of difference until either Coop - or his replacement - starts playing to win and not playing to not lose. And no, pulling the goalie way too soon doesn't count. That's just a desperate act from a man who doesn't seem to have any answers anymore and/or whose message is falling on deaf ears.

When 4 of the bottom 6 players have 2 assists through 14 games between them... there's an issue that's not just coaching. Eyssimont kind of gets a pass as he can be effective while not being on the scoresheet but Glendenning/Girgensons/Atkinson have no excuses to look invisible 98% of the time (2% goes to Luke for winning a ton of draws). grabbing even a half decent bottom 6 guy that needs a change of scenery for one of the forty-eight 7th round picks we have or some no name prospect we haven't signed yet is not the end of the world. I will say that while Coop is by league standards is a top tier head coach, his biggest issue behind the bench is being outcoached on a nightly basis and being too scared to actually switch things up in the middle of a game. His whole "Process over outcome" schtick is getting old real fast and something needs to be fixed there. another main issue is him being butt buddies with Blashill who should have been fired last year.

What happened to Raddysh? I know he hasn't been playing that well this season but it's odd to see him drop from Hedman's linemate to out of the lineup altogether.
Also surprised they moved Moser to RD as a lefty, which obviously strengthens our RD and pushes guys down. He's done awesome though so I'm not complaining. Just thought it was interesting because if he was on the left it would be Lilleberg forced out, rather than a RD.
I guess Perbix/Raddysh are just similar players but it's odd that Raddysh seemed much better last year and Perbix has been getting more time this year.

I guess between the two Perbix is a bit better defensively (which isn’t saying much). Somehow the RD spot next to Hedman is cursed, it’s great one season and then poof (see Dotchin, Stralman, Girardi, Serg, Bogo, Perbix … and now Raddysh).
What I’m probably saying is we should’ve kept Lord Rutta.
I think Raddysh screwed the pooch so to speak a few too many times and now Cooper doesn't trust him on the bottom. They want to maximize Mosers minutes so he's getting the short end of the stick.
What I don't like is he was put into a lot of RD-RD situations and was clearly uncomfortable, give him some chances with Lilleberg if they are hellbent on keeping Moser as Heddy's partner. Feels like we aren't utilizing the talent we have fully when he's sitting but was so effective for us last year.
Hoping this short break gives the guys a chance to reset and have some solid practices. At the same time it really sucks having to wait until Friday for our next game.
He is considered to be a "top tier head coach" because he won Cups with a team that had 4 sure fire HOFs on it and quite possibly a 5th, not to mention a damn good supporting cast. And even with that he let a vastly inferior Islanders team take him to the brink twice. There are a lot of coaches in the league who could have taken the talent Coop had to work with to Cups and probably with greater ease than he did. Not to mention the pass he got in meeting MTL in the final because of COVID. Not saying Coop is a bad coach, not at all, but I have never believed for one second that he is some uber special coach either. He should be as expendable as any coach if the circumstance warrants it and to me, we're pretty close to that. I've said it before and I'll say it again, there is reason the guy has never won COY and that is because the writers recognize that he has always had a ton to work with. Now he doesn't have as much and if he is really as great as the press clippings say he is let's see him do more with less. That would be the measure of greatness, not winning with guys most qualified NHL coaches could win with.
Coulda woulda shoulda won more cups, who knows? It certainly isn't fact. Coopers got quite the resume, even before he reached the NHL, and then we went on deep playoff runs basically every year until recently.
Let's entertain the idea that Cooper isn't really contributing anything positive and is just holding the roster together that could win on its own, that still makes him Joe Torre-esque.
With all that being said, even Torre was fired. Cooper isn't untouchable, but he deserves credit and a little bit of rope. I think his job is firmly secure until it's time to rebuild, at the very least.
He's not on the hot seat while we are making the playoffs IMO, he's the guy JBB picked.

I am fine with keeping Coop but we need to shit can his buddies. At worst the seat needs to be warm enough for a "We can't be doing this next year" and I do think other voices than his besties would help the room. We need our prospects to come through and make a difference and I mean pronto
I'll bet we see an improvement on special teams after having some time to focus on it in practice.
We have one real prospect in the entire organization and he's currently on the 2nd line.
