2024-2025 Colorado Eagles and Utah Grizzlies (ECHL)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
A lot of us have said it half in-jest that the Avs should fire their entire amateur scouting department and make their picks based on consensus lists every year.

IIRC when I tallied the results for certain years, the Avs would have come out with more NHLers in rounds 2-7 but made some pretty big whiffs in round 1 if they went that route.
That's science. It's proven, the Av should never leave themselves a draft pick in anything other than the first round, and they should only use that if it is a top 5 pick.

I wouldn't pay much attention to that source either considering a very simple EP search on Posch tells me he's probably established in NA now after having played the last FOUR years NA. One year in the USHL and one in the NAHL before joining St Cloud....
Weirdly, he played his first year in the USHL before dropping down to the NAHL his second year...
I might have added the getting established bit, I thought it was just 3 years here and when I really think about it I don’t know how long you have to be here from far way to be established but anyway I might have done that myself.

I thought it was just the hip new slang kids were using these days.
Kids these days, bizzare. I asked the car washer/shop helper to take some parts to the dunpster a couple head lamps a fender and like a bumper and some small stuff..he got half way done and came up to me rubbing his shoulders and told me he was done lifting for the day…the guy in the next stall said I have the kid this look

In short I have no clue about kids nowadays.

The last fresh out of highschool kid I worked with would complete an assigned task and then stand there looking lost until I told him to repeat the task. He worked there for 2 months and to this day I still believe he has no idea what his job was.

Not bad. Hopefully he gets 2C mins next year. We'll eventually still need to curn the bottom six.

Yeah. Considering the entire 4th line is signed next year, no need to rush Ivan.

Ideally, Ivan and Prishchepov are ready for consistent 4th line roles in the NHL in 2026/27. Kelly could walk as a UFA in 2026 and Drury up to 3C when Coyle's deal expires.

Looks like Maine is getting eliminated tonight. Does Taylor Makar get a contract?
Yep, he's also allowed to play for us and will get setup by his brother for a goal at some point

Most likely in an exhibition game next pre-season, but still. It will be fun when it happens.

Shit on country all you like...make fun of Bakersfield all you want.

But you have to admit Buck Owens was a f***ing genius.

I really haven't given two shits for country music since the early/mid 90s. But I've got a huge soft spot for older country, and especially western music. Buck, Dwight and then Gary Allen all did Bakersfield proud. Pat Green, Jack Ingram, Charlie (RIP) and Bruce Robison have all tried to carry the torch for singer/songwritters like Guy Clark, Kris Kristofferson, and some long haired hippy named Willie in Texas. Nashville sold it's soul the day they recogized Alan Jackson and George Strait for Murder on Music Row.

My favorite line of all time, in any genre though is, "And then he'd hold it a little bit longer." It's in Gary Allen's What Would Willie Do? The singer suggests he would take a deep breath and after a missed beat on the next line suggests....'And then he would hold it a bit longer" and it just cracks me up.

Man, a group of friends and I drove out to Bakersfield to see Buck play at his "Crystal Palace" in the early 2000s because at least three of us were big fans. He called in sick that night, so we got overpriced mediocre steak and "The Buckaroos" who weren't real Buckaroos no how. That was a raw deal, and we never had the courage to try again before he died, because no one should be forced to drive that far and just get standard Bakersfield junk.

I did get to see Kris Kristofferson, Wanda Jackson, Little Jimmy Dickens and Charlie Louvin at various points, though. Country used to be great, mostly before I was born.

Taylor Makar will definitely get a contract. What kind of contract it is I have no clue. I’m not sure about an ELC right away. Maybe an ATO for Eagles rest of year and then an AHL contract after that? 2 year AHL contract? He was good enough to be brought in. Looks like Cornell is done too so wonder if Lindgren trade throw in Hank Kempf gets a look.

You have to think the Avs will try. There's two reasons he would have been included on the trade: either the Avs like him and asked for him, or he told the Rangers he wouldn't sign and they threw him in as a bonus. If it's the first one, the Avs will push to get him signed. If it's the second one, maybe Kempf just really wants to try for UFA no matter what, and he might walk, which is disappointing but probably not a huge loss.

At the time of the trade, CMac was pretty clear that they liked him.

He said that Kempf is a guy their scouts have watched a lot and they have good connections/communication with the staff at Cornell to be able to monitor him closely and get updates.

What's the earliest people would expect to see Kempf actually making the Avs roster?

Would he actually be battling for a spot at training camp? Or will he be a bit longer term project?

Zero chance in the next camp.

This guy is a pure long shot. Ceiling is a bottom pairing defenseman, floor is barely an AHLer.

Think 2-3 years in the AHL before being an injury call-up type dude.
