2024-2025 Blues Trade Proposals Thread.

I really like the idea of trading for Braden Schneider. A big, physical RD who at 23, is in the perfect age bracket for us. I'm not sure he is worth our 1st, though.
If he is solid top 4 rhd at 23, I’d think that is worth more than our 1st. What are we actually expecting to get at 19?

Here’s one just for @Dizee

To StL: LaFreniere, Schneider
To Rags: Kyrou, Jiricek, Dean

Plan would be that Laffy, Bolduc, Snuggs replace the output of Kyrou, and they would do so with 100% more grit and determination in their game. Schneider addresses our hole on RD and can move between 2RD and 3RD with Faulk if he still needs some development. Dizee throws a party and drives Kyrou to the airport. 😂

And I just threw in Jiricek because I hated the pick and think he’s a nothing burger.

I would love Schneider. He's exactly what we need; right handed, reliable, D-first, cost-controlled, the perfect age for the core. My only question is where the rumor about his availability comes from--is it a poster on here? Has Friedman or another insider discussed it? If I'm the Rangers I really don't know what would convince them to move on; he's the kind of guy you'd keep around for the duration of the retool. Of course, Drury is an absolute idiot, so that could be why.

If you can get Schneider for the 1st and a sweetener you do it, no question. The offer sheets moved our window up and IMO it stays open as soon as we address 2c and 2hd--and a guy like Schneider addresses one of those needs without costing us the farm.

19th + Kessel/Fischer/Ralph would be my ideal offer for him. Probably unpopular on here, but Bolduc for him 1 for 1 would be acceptable too on my end.

RE: Byram --I posted about this on Reddit too, but he's a square peg in a round hole for us. Wrong handed, young but with a concerning injury history. Buffalo would also want NHL-ready talent, so we would be opening other roster holes to add him anyway. I trust our scouts, however; if they think Byram would pair well with Broberg, I would inquire at the least.

RE: Bennett-if someone pays over 8 million for him they are insane. Intangibles be damned the dude has only broken 50 points once and he's pushing 30. He would be great as an overpaid 3c...but even that would be 7 or so. If the market is that crazy just say no!

Plenty of Rangers posters view Borgen as better than Schneider. I'm fine targeting him, but a 1st is rich for what he currently is.
Couldn’t one say that the contract Broberg signed was rich given what he was at the time the offer was signed?

A 1st is worth it for a top 4 D who has potentially years of being under team control at 23.

Given the interest in this thread regarding a trade for Schneider, here is my overall proposal on how to proceed:

Blues send: Faulk, Texier/Joseph, Kessel/Fischer/Ralph
NYR send: Schneider, Kreider + 2025 pick

Both teams would be moving contracts considered deadweight from their own perspectives, with similar term and AAV. A change of scenery could work wonders, as we’ve seen with Fowler.

I see Kreider bringing more upside than Faulk due to his net-front presence and the fact that he is easier to bury in the lineup if necessary.

With this deal, we still retain our 1st and Bolduc for another trade. Holding on to that 1st might be valuable until the draft if we find a trading partner.
On the other hand, keep in mind that this year's 1st might be the last we see us drafting in top 20 rather than in the 20-30s, as we’re aiming to make a deeper playoff push for the next season.

Regarding the proposed offer sheet to McLeod from Buffalo — I support this move, as we still hold our 2026 1st and 3rd-round picks.
An AAV of $7,020,113 over 2 years would fall into the compensation range covered by those picks.

With these moves, we still have the option to move Leddy, who has the 16 team M-NTC, and look for a new partner for Tucker.

Buch - Thomas - Snuggs
Holloway -McLeod - Kyrou
Kreider - Schenn - Neighbours
Walker - ???/Sunny - Toro

Fowler - Parayko
Broberg - Schneider
Tucker - ???

I think Schneider is an interesting player, but the guy has almost 300 regular season games and another almost 50 playoff games under his belt. He's never averaged under 15:29 a game in any season. This is a vastly different situation then Broberg, who showed flashes but never really had the consistent playing time to figure it out - it's much more of a "What you see is what you get." Now I'm not opposed to trading our first for him (Funny enough, Schneider was a 19th overall pick in 2020), but I wouldn't add and I'd want to know what his contract ask is for an extension (He does have 1 season left at 2.2 before becoming an RFA).

He doesn't look like he's even on the Faulk level offensively, which is concerning, b/c unless we all think Broberg is going to take off offensively next season, the thing we lack most in our "core/prospect" pool is dynamic offensive talent from the back end. Fischer, Ralph, and Lindstein all seem like responsible defensively, good first pass type guys. Jiricek is really the only guy who flashes offensive moxy, and who knows what (or when) he's going to be ready with his development path having this many bumps on it.

As for the above proposal, no f***ing way I'm taking Kreider. He's a Powerplay merchant and we don't need another winger, we have wingers coming out of our ears.

What do you think of

Marco Rossi C for Jake Neighbors? I don't like trading Neighbors but it would give us a 2nd line center.

He's not currently a top 4 D, we also didn't pay a 1st for Broberg.

Please correct my ignorance. Isn’t it 2025 draft picks needed for offer sheets? Isn’t that how we had to acquire our own 2nd back from the Pens? Or do I have my years confused from the prior offer sheets?

Must have been thinking of someone else, sorry.

With that said, probably a 1st on top of Bolduc at least.

I can’t see the Blues paying Bolduc + a 1st for Schneider.

I don’t think he’s had a big improvement since joining the NHL. Some of that probably falls on the Rangers since it came out he’d been dealing with the shoulder injury for 2 years.

He still has potential. If he recovers 100% with the shoulder surgery, maybe he gets back to being physical. If he’s a #5 D without physicality or much offense, his value takes a hit. It’s hard to put a true value on him right now given he’s played with the injury for 2 years.

I could see the Blues possibly having their 1st on the table for him if they believe he recovers 100% and has upside. I can’t see how they would include Bolduc along with the 1st. That’s basically 2 1st’s and just too much.

Discussing Noah Dobson, not Schneider from NYR.
