2024-2025 Blues Trade Proposals Thread.

Hi All, in a keeper league and I'm working on a trade for Thomas. His numbers have been very nice in my league and I want to make sure he isnt going to be moved or anything before pulling the trigger. I don't why he would be but wanted to check in to make sure.

Thanks in advance
No one is untouchable, but I bet nearly every regular poster on HFBlues would identify him as the most untouchable player in the organization right now. His contract is already a steal even before the cap jump. I think his line mates will upgrade too. Buch may have peaked, but Neighbours has improved every year and he's still young. There's been some talk of Thomas liking playing with Jimmy Snuggerud, who looked real good getting his first taste of NHL action out of college at the end of this season. Thomas is a pass first center and Snuggy's best trait is his shot, although he looked good at making plays too, at least to me. If Snuggy clicks with Thomas, Thomas will set career highs in points.

Virtually a zero percent chance at this point. He's the face of the franchise.

As others mentioned he is the face of the franchise at this point, unless for some reason Edmonton wants to send us McDavid for him he will be here for the foreseeable future. Should be a great add and if he stays healthy should be in the 90-100 pt range.

Considering Byram can play RHD as a lefty, what would you give up for him or him + McLeod?
I would imagine we would have to be sending a pretty significant package to Buffalo to get both of those guys, not sure what it would look like to be honest but they aren't in the market for picks/prospects so they are going to want young NHLers in return.

There are MAYBE a dozen guys in the League that I'd trade Thomas for and none of them are even remotely available.
He's going nowhere.

Byram is a guy I like but, for us, he's a square peg for a round hole. We need RHD--he can play the right side, but only has done so in a smaller sample size. He's the right age for our core, but trading for him would cost roster players, making it a rob Peter to pay Paul situation. Besides, even if we trade for him, his concussion history and RFA status make it risky and/or difficult to keep him long-term.

I'd want him if he can be had for cheap...and he won't be had for cheap. Someone out there could assuredly outbid us. Not really thinking we get Byram.

On an unrelated note, I keep coming back to Pavel Zacha as the most realistic add for middle six center (I'd prefer McLeod, but the more I think about it Buffalo should move heaven and earth to keep a defensively responsible forward at this point, so I doubt he's available unless he holds out or something). Zacha has Monty history, limited no-trade, fits a middle-six center profile well, forechecks well and should fill Schenn's role between Holloway and Kyrou. Boston is retooling. we could give them our first and a defenseman with retention to flip at the deadline. Something like a conditional first + Faulk with some retention for Zacha. We get out from under Faulk, he eats minutes for them as they retool and then they sell Faulk at the deadline or draft next year to get another pick or two.

As I type it, it feels a little steep, but that to me seems like a sign it's fair.

I too think Zacha seems like perhaps the most likely option for us, for the reasons you described. I don’t see us dealing Faulk though unless we have replacement lined up.

Now, I could see Fabbro, Perbix, and Ceci as options on D. None of them really require us to move Faulk, who would I expect look much better in smaller role.

Haven’t seen much of Schneider to really have an opinion, what can you tell me about his play style/ceiling

I like Schneider, I’m definitely interested in him. He’s still only 23 so there’s still room to grow his game, but he already has around 300 games under his belt, so some good experience at the same time. Not inept offensively, he can put up a decent amount of points and also be a shutdown type guy. Plus I like his physicality, I think we could use one more physical player on defense.

I would without a doubt trade the 19th pick for Schneider. I have been pretty vocal about how I am not even a little bit excited about this years draft class. Schneider will probably cap out as 30 point physical defenseman with a good first pass. I could see him developing into a Carl Gunnarsson, steady hand type with a limited offensive punch.

Rangers Fan said something about a Deal centered around our 1st for Schneider. now THAT is something I would absolutely look at entertaining.
Doesn’t really make sense for Rangers. Would think they would want one of our young forwards (Neighbours?). If they don’t get turned around Drury ain’t gonna be there by time 19th pick arrives in MSG.

What about Bennett?
