2024-2025 Blues Trade Proposals Thread.

It could happen but I think Kyrou has gotten over that hump, especially after listening to Army's recent interview on Spittin Chiclets. I'd never say never though.

I know fans always want that big fish but these sorts of trades rarely happen. I can't see the Rangers trading Fox or the Oilers trading Bouchard (who I wouldn't want anyway at his likely price tag). Paying up the nose for Dobson would also make me nervous on top of the big package required to land him. I think if we trade for a d-man it will be for someone a tier or two below the guys you listed. Our defense has been pretty damn good lately by playing as a solid 5 man unit, so I'm not sure we need a guy on that level anyway.
Agreed. I wanted a guy like Brandon Carlo. We need to be in that tier and find a reliable natural RD, that is a 5-6 that can play up in the lineup. In other words, someone who could bump Faulk to the 3rd pair if they aren’t able to move him this summer. Sucks we have so little in the pipeline on the right side that is close to NHL ready.

It's an interesting thought, as it does address some of our biggest holes, but it's far too much value. I think Dobson is a good target, but only at the right acquisition price and contract value. I'd honestly rather go for Nemec, Clarke, or Morrow this off-season then Dobson, unless he's willing to sign an extremely reasonable deal (Unlikely).

When you break it down, it kinda looks like this - Faulk + 2025 1st + Stancl is already an overpay for the priveledge to sign Dobson for double digit AAV, which he's going to have the leverage to ask for if we're trading that many assets for him. The rest of the trade looks even more lopsided with Dvo and Jiricek for Barzal, who doesn't even play Center that much anymore.

I will admit, these last couple of veiwings of Dvo has worried me a bit - skating is a fickle bitch, and his legs look like toothpicks - but we've generally done well at developing prospects and he's got so much runway left since he was such a young draft pick at the time. I am a bit concerned though.

That's in theory a contender. The speed on that Barzal line would be nuts. I just don't see Lou doing a move that puts them in pretty much a full rebuild.

I do think upgrading Schenn is an area we will look at. While he has certainly improved compared to last season, I do think it's much more driven by Holloway and that Schenn on his own really isn't a #2 C on a team that wants to win a round or 2 in the playoffs.

Neighbours-Thomas-Buchnevich
Holloway-Barzal-Kyrou
Bolduc-Schenn-Snuggerud
WTF/whatever/who cares

Fowler-Parayko
Broberg-Dobson
Suter/Leddy/Tucker

Binnington

Could you imagine the wheels on a Holloway - Barzal - Kyrou line?

Would you make this trade in the offseason?

Barzal + Dobson

For

Dvorsky + Faulk + Jiricek + Stancl + 2025 1st
I would do this trade just for Barzal alone. He would be a menace on the Blues where he doesn't have to be the main guy.

Would 100% do that assuming we could afford to keep the main pieces we need to with the cap rising. Love Dvorsky as a prospect, that kind of a trade probably shortens a window for us, but it also solidifies a window and it's not like it's terribly short-sighted as it's a pretty much guaranteed window.

Am I the only one who isn't a huge fan of Barzal. We already have the better version of him on Robert Thomas. Dvorsky would provide a different look from the middle and is eight years younger. Barzal and Dobson does not make us a instant contender in my eyes.

I know the Blues have jumped started their retool this year but trying to jump even further ahead would be a mistake. Patience is needed. We have some real potential in a number of these prospects, trust the development and again, patience.

He's one of those where if we are given an offer too good to pass up, I'd absolutely take it, the proposed deal above fits that. Would I pay what New York would want for just Barzal? Most likely not.

I'd be curious what someone like William Karlsson would cost. I don't think Army moves any of the big prospects yet.

Not yet. We need to see what we have first.

Dobson is not worth that much.
I agree, but it’s what they would ask for. He’s a 25 yr old RHD with size who put up 70 points. You can book it that he’ll either bring back a young and talented NHL roster player and multiple picks, or a couple high draft young prospects, a B prospect and a high draft pick.

If we're going shopping for unrealistic RHD, I wonder if we can convince Chris Drury to give us Braden Schneider. He checks all the boxes for me. Big fan. Plus NYR can't seem to help putting themselves in cap trouble, so idk if they can afford his extension when it's due next offseason.
What could we add to our 2025 1st and Jiricek? (And I’m bullish on Jiricek)

I’m sensing a blockbuster move this summer for a legit 2C. We’ll probably over pay, but considering where we are in the rebuild and the amount of prospects we have, I’m ok with it. It’s such a glaring hole, that we pretty much have to if we want to be legit.

I would think they would only do this if they think Devo isn’t going to be what they thought

I still think Fabbro or Perbix would be good pickups for the defense if we are going the UFA route. neither should be crazy expensive.
Agreed on both counts. We won’t be the only ones interested in them though, and if the competition gets too thick I’m content being patient and not overpaying for them. Fabbro in particular will have a lot of suitors if Lumbus lets him leave.
