2024-2025 Blues Trade Proposals Thread.

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
Schenn to Zacha seems lateral on the ice. We'd upgrade a C-prospect, but downgrade our 1st. The prospect would still just be a B-tier prospect though. I'd rather have the higher first.

It seems to be a trade that messes with our chemistry and leadership structure for no real gains. The cap gains aren't that much especially in light that our cap structure is pretty good moving forward. I don't like it
Things to consider:
1. Zacha is 6 years younger than Schenn.
2. In this years draft, picking at 15 vs 25 will have very little value difference, most likely same exact tier of player.
3. Zacha played under Monty in Bos, is familiar with his system and is a natural C with good Faceoff%.

1. Yes, but would Zacha be in our plans long term with Dvorsky. Either Zacha or Schenn would be a stop gap for the rest of their contract. Age matters less over the next 2-3 years.

2. I'd still rather give our scouts a higher pick. There may be a player they like as a top 10 pick that is projected to go 18th or whatever. Our scouts tiers don't always match the consensus. I want to give them the best chance to grab their guy. That is far more important to me than getting a bit younger on our mid-6 C.

I think I would rather keep Schenn than make a swap like this. 81/10/25 has worked really well for us. Zacha is alot different of a player than Schenn, he's a lot more creative of a distributor, but isn't as good as a skater, isn't as physical and doesn't have the scoring touch Schenn does.

I also would rather not move back from 15 to 25. Last year we were all told that Buium/Dickinson etc would go top 7 they fell quite a bit. Point being there will be risers and fallers on draft day, 10 spots in the 1st round is a pretty large difference. I understand this draft is a lot different, but there are still some really interesting names that are bordering the top 10 that very likely could be there between 12-15 where we will likely land.

I wonder if his defensive game is that bad or if they are just reluctant to give him a 20+ minute heavily sheltered role, sort of like us and Dunn. If he's available, go get him.

Jersey and LA feel similar in the sense that I don't think you can have Clarke and Spence on the same roster, and I don't think you can have Nemec and Casey on the same roster.

Given the price Tampa paid today, it appears we are transitioning into a Sellers Market. I think the probability that DA adds anything this deadline are lowering. Given this and taking away the consideration of the Blues playoff chances (currently and at the deadline) the chance some GM meets his reportedly high asking should be higher. Going to be interesting to see what happens with some of our rumored pieces like Schenn.

Brandt Clarke is def a guy I’d love to roll the dice on in terms of some type of prospect swap. Friedman said LA wants to re-sign Gavrikov so that would lock up their top 4 defenseman for the next several yrs. They need offense. Is Snuggy for Clarke something anyone would consider?

Word on the street is that we have become buyers and are looking to add a minor pc. Pat Maroon has been talked about.
Maybe we can get Maroon and play him on a line with Sunny, we could potentially set a record for the slowest line in the league.

In all seriousness, it would probably be stupid but I will always love Maroon for 2019 so if he comes super cheap(basically free) I say bring him on in!

I honestly don't know what I'd offer for Clarke, I just know we have the pieces to do it, and I'd trust Army to figure out the right deal. Do you go with protected 1st? Do you go with someone that can help the Kings now like Bolduc? Or would they want a higher upside prospect? Either way, we have the pieces, so if he's available, I hope we are aggressive with it.

I agree. Seems like of the two rumored young defenseman with legit top 4 upside that might be able to be pried Nemec is more likely to stay put. Unlike most of what we’ve discussed this would not be a “re-arranging deck chairs” transaction but rather using our surplus to address a legit need. It would take a piece we all like but you have to give to get and would be worth the calculated gamble on Clarke. Bolduc/Snuggy/Stenberg would all have to be in play and I could live with it.

I feel like I am higher on Bolduc than most here but this is one move I would absolutely trade him for

I'd love to get Conor Geekie from Tampa. Loved him in his draft year. Big center, still growing into his frame, still very young (will only turn twenty-one in May). I don't know what it would cost, though, and I wouldn't give up our first for him unless we were in a guaranteed playoff spot or somewhere around it like last year. And from what I'm hearing from Tampa's GM, they're not interested in picks.

I'd also love to get Simon Nemec at the same time. I'd gladly give up Neighbours or Bolduc with a small addition (Ralph? Thanks for the suggestion, Let's Go Booze!) for him.

Schenn, to me, would be a first-round pick from the buying team.

Leddy is another trade chip. I'd love to get a 2026 second or something like that for retention.

Suter is also a trade-chip to me. If we could get a 2026 third, I'd be happy.

If someone blew my socks off with an offer for Faksa/Joseph/Toropchenko, I'd deal them as well. I want to see what Kaskimaki, Alexandrov, and Robertsson can do at the NHL level. I feel they're all ready.

Bolduc + Ralph would be my offer

Clarke as RD2 behind Parayko would synergize well. Could shelter somewhat, while also having our PPQB of the future.

Since it got posted to main boards, Geekie isn't happening after the moves Tampa made today.

Yes, I just posted it. Geekie, right now, is on their fourth line, considering the moves they just made (Gourde, Bjorkstrand).

Guentzel-Point-Kucherov
Hagel-Cirelli-Bjorkstrand
Goncalves?-Paul-Gourde

Is what a Lightning fan posted as their line on their trade thread. Nowhere is Geekie mentioned.

Thought he was in ahl?

I don't know. I admittedly haven't been paying attention, but I thought he was already on the active roster?

Forgive me if I embarrassed y'all on the main trade boards, I just...thought I could add some more younger players at positions of need by trading players we either can replace easier than others (Neighbours), players who don't seem to be in our plans (Bolduc), or prospects that seem redundant (Ralph, any of our second-tier wingers).

If Geekie was available he woulda got moved in the Lightnings deal earlier today. The fact he wasnt, goes to show they arent currently interested in moving him. That may change next deadline, but for now he looks untouchable.

Just watched the clip of Dreger on Insider Trading. Man, I'd love if Toronto really was as desperate as he's making it sound, and it's clear that Army is at least still talking to Treliving about it, so to me, Toronto has the pieces that Army would find acceptable, it's just if they offer them up. If getting all 3 of the prospects is even remotely possible, do that in a heartbeat, and we can figure stuff out later. Or it frees up moving those assets or other stuff for a young defenseman.

If Toronto really does view this as one of their last chances, it makes sense that they overpay for the guy they want, and I bet Berube wants Schenn over anyone else.
