As much as I'd love to make a nice futures package for Nemec, New Jersey should be looking for immediate NHL roster help if they move him. Maybe we could put together a futures package with enough value to outbid other offers and then they flip some of those futures for that roster help. But realistically, I don't think a guy like Bolduc moves the needle for them a ton.

I think that any deal for Nemec would have to include either Neighbours or Holloway.

They don't have tons of cap space and all their 'bad' money that they might want to shed has full trade protection right now. Any roster player coming back in a Nemec trade needs to be more than a pure rental, so they are probably looking for young(ish) guys on below-market deals that are at least able to be a genuinely 'plus' middle 6 player. Neighbours and Holloway both fit that bill. I don't think you land a guy like Nemec without giving up something you really don't want to give up. I'm not eager to give up either of those guys, but I would have to strongly consider it if New Jersey covets one.

Personally, I think Holloway would be a great fit with New Jersey. He's got the skating to keep up with their elite players. A Holloway-Hughes-Bratt line could be an absolute nightmare to play against. I don't think that Neighbours is as good of a fit, but he's a guy that should be a quality middle 6 player for years to come.

I agree that NJ will want players over picks and even a 1st-round level talent, but I think Bolduc is adequate value if DA adds another forward like Jecho, plus picks or equivalent value.

That's as high as I am willing to go for Nemec. Bolduc, Jecho, Dickinson and a 2026 3rd.

EDIT: Looking at this offer, I can see that it is a little bit light. Gotta add something, but this is a good base.

Neighbours would be a good starting point for a trade for Nemec. I would easily part with that and some NHL ready prospects outside the top-6 guys for a player with Nemec’s potential.

That’s a wild ask for Nemec. Neighbors for Nemec alone probably makes sense. Maybe a small add from the Blues.

Speaking of Wild….Jirieck (same draft less pedigree) was recently traded for a 1st, a 2 years away 2nd, a 3rd, and 4th….with a 5th going back the other way. New Jersey isn’t likely to want a futures package for Nemec, but I don’t see Neighbors value even with a small add equaling that.

I would think the ask for NJ would be Snuggy. Not sure what I'd do then. We need both a big RHD who can drive the play and a sniper. Jiricek still is a ways away, even before getting into his lost season last year.

I think Nemec would be argued to have more value as he did on the day of the draft but I don’t like know anything about that part or the leverage difference he may have as compared to what Jirichek was able to do.

That’s also a whole lot of draft capital going to Columbus….its nice that the defenseman in return is nhl ready but as the only tangible return for a 6oa, a 3rd rounder in Daemon shows how much value the deal has crammed into the picks.
