I get its a frustrating time to be a blues fan, but the personal attacks and gatekeepers spilling over into every thread gets old quick. The last year or two, I pretty much only check the prospects and trade threads to avoid most of it.
This is an excellent reminder to keep discussions on topic and about posts, not posters. Thanks.

I'm wondering what Army told Monty he wants the team to do this season. If Army is telling him to come in and make it to the playoffs this season it's just setting Monty up for failure. But, if he's telling Monty to come in weather the storm for this season, and we will be working to get him better parts this offseason to make a run next season I think that would be the best case scenario.

If Army is wanting Playoffs this season, He needs to go out and get a player who can play in the top 6 center position.

I don't imagine this season really played much of a role in the decision to hire Monty. It was a move made purely because a very good NHL coach was available to us and the guy we currently have behind the bench hasn't done a great job. Nobody's going to see Monty as a failure if the team misses the playoffs. I wouldn't have seen Bannister as a failure if the Blues missed the playoffs this season.

They've seen what Monty can do and they weren't willing to wait for him to take a job with Detroit, Pittsburgh, or any other franchise that's about the can their head coach.

Alright, Doug. Time to go get your new coach a 2C.

You cant just push the issue. It takes luck and timing for one to become available and not to overpay. Unless you want to settle for a mediocre one. We need a 1B to make a difference. Our 1st should be on the table for the right one with term.

I’d be willing to wait until the off-season for one

I still think you should try and go after Zegras.

He DESPERATELY needs a change of scenery from that toxic room in Anaheim. According to the knowledgeable Ducks fans on here, he’s gotten a good amount better on the defensive side of the game.

B2b 60+ point seasons to start his career until that curmudgeon Cronin took over. I think he’d be a stud here. Plus, if Dvorsky pushes the issue for top 6 minutes quicker than anticipated, you can always put TZ on the wing.

I’d need to watch him more to see. I’m not familiar with his 2-way game enough.

He doesn't have a 2-way game.
He's Kyrou before this year.
1-dimensional offensive zone player that wants nothing to do with physical play or the defensive zone.
Granted, he's an absolute magician with the puck on his stick; but there's no way I'd give up the assets they'd want for him. If you're going to give up that much, pay the extra cost to get Brady Tkachuk.

Have you watch his play this year? I’ve lurked their discussion board and they’ve said it’s better.

Zegras has no defensive game, can't win a face off, and is struggling to score. I'd be on board if he's cheap, but it's gotta be cheap and people have to understand his flaws.

You have to spoon feed him ridiculously sheltered minutes.

I should’ve stated in my original post about him that I don’t want to pay 2022-23 Trevor Zegras prices.

It would absolutely have to be Army buying low, which I think could happen. Cronin is a terrible coach and cratered the entire team’s offense, it’s not just him.

I think you COULD shelter his line tremendously with how good Thomas is on the defensive side of the puck, and how well our 4th line has played so far.

If we improve to the point where our 1st becomes more of a mid first, I'd offer it up for Miller.

Skjei is probably a good comp trade wise.

Not all that interested in a long term addition at LD. I think Perunovich is breaking out for real and with his RFA status at the end of the season we should be able to re-sign him to a favorable contract. Broberg is obviously going to be occupying a top 4 spot for a long time, and Lindstein isn't too far off. Wouldn't mind a stop gap type guy but not interested in paying up for someone like Miller unless we think he's really undervalued.
