2024-2025 Blues Trade Proposals Thread.

The more I think about it, I'm not sure we really should be anticipating two major trades this summer to address our roster holes. I mean, if someone is going to be as dumb as Drury and fall for another Buchnevich robbery, sure, go ahead. But without the cap being as much as an issue, GMs should rightfully ask for more when it comes to trades, and if we are needing to really pony up twice, that could strip our roster depth and farm system.

That's why I'm coming around to a competitive FA offer for Nelson or Bennett or Suter at C or Ekblad, Fabbro or Perbix on D--you try to get one of them, and the other position of need is the one you line up in a trade, more willing and able to pay a premium for a big upgrade. With the cap going up, an overpayment at a position of need is less of an anchor than it was in the last half-decade and we have plenty of cap space with Krug being sent off to the farm.
OR try trading for a guy who is perceived to be overpaid right now while his value is low…like Elias Lindholm

I don't think we have an asset available to add to our first to move up to 9/10. Buffalo is probably the most realistic option to move up as they have more than enough picks/prospects, so 9 overall should be on the table for the right piece. However, they will want to add young NHL-ready players and I doubt we're willing to add Bolduc/Neighbours/Snuggerud. I cannot imagine they will accept a 'prospect package'.
Would you trade Kyrou for Peterka & the Sabers #9 overall pick?

Why would the Sabres do that tho?
Only response I have is “because they are the Sabres”. Just kidding. Don’t think they would either, but they would be an interesting trade partner for the Blues. They are dying to make the playoffs and we have some vets with only a year or two left that may help them, and they have some youth/picks that we could use. I really like McCleod and secondarily guys like Krebs and Bernard-Docker, along with their multitude of draft picks. Maybe something can get done that helps both clubs.

I think the unsubstantiated rumor is that Peterka will move as he will most likely not sign a long term deal with his current team.

Maybe you can’t offer sheet the guy. If he wants to leave the Sabres then he’s maybe not entering situations where the Sabres get the final say to retain his services.

Makes sense. But also like STL MN posted, other GMs are on notice when it comes to offer sheets. It won’t be so easy this summer.

I just can't see the Blues trading Kyrou for another winger+futures or Kyrou+ for another winger.

And I can't see the Sabres trading Peterka and a 1st for another winger.

It just doesn't fix either teams main issues.

I also don't see a Offer Sheet this offseason.

I’m with you here. I get wing happy with the best of them, but we just can’t do that trade.

We need a bona fide center and a reliable RHD right now.

Soon, Steen is going to have to address the aging defense in a more concerted manner. For now, a 2C and a RHD is what we need.

We don’t need a winger swap.

I can, cause Helenius isn't that far out. So as long as we get a now piece (JJ or Byram) + Helenius i think this helps us in multiple ways.

I don’t mind the idea of Army asking Monty who he would prefer between Lindholm or Zacha, as he obviously coached both in Boston.

I do think Lindholm could get back to his “old self” by being on a line with Holloway and Kyrou.

I see near Zero chance that Buffalo trades Peterka + their 1st or Helenius for Kyrou. It doesn't help them.

Also want nothing to do with Byram. We already have Broberg and Fowler as top 4 LHD.

Zacha is a plodder, so no. I’ve never liked his game. Lindholm is a possibility.

If Zacha has worked on his skating, then maybe.

Would you trade Kyrou for Peterka & the Sabers #9 overall pick?

Only if we're planning to flip #9 in a package for a good young 2C or topd-4 RD. At this moment we need young players who can grow with the core more than draftpicks who could turn out to be a NHL-player in 3-ish years.

Buffalo isn't offering that BTW,

Buffalo wants players with term to add to their core so Kyrou would be very enticing for them. Peterka has shown unwillingness to sign longterm so he is likely on the way out. Kyrou for Peterka and the 9th would be great for both teams. I like Peterka's game at 23 more than Kyrou's at 23.

Our roster needs more talent to be contenders, so let's trade our best winger for a lesser talented guy who comes with worse defensive issues, is even softer, and has no long term contract. Makes a ton of sense.
Who's rumored asking price is the same as the guy we would be trading so we wouldn't even be getting cap relief. And we would still need to get a center.
