I think Faulk gets moved before any of Kyrou, Buchnevich, or Schenn unless someone really ponies up for Kyrou. I think moving any of Schenn, Kyrou, or Buchnevich is going to be very volatile for different reasons.

I don’t think I’ve commented on this since he was re-signed but I didn’t think the Blues should’ve re-signed Buchy for what they signed him for. He pretty clearly just exited his peak IMO and he just doesn’t fit the timeline IMO. He’s worth more in assets. If the Blues can somehow fix that and trade him now, I’d be more than good with that if there’s actually someone willing to take on that player and contract and return decent assets.

I agree with @Linkens Mastery that Faulk would be the first to go. RHD is a position many teams need and while he's having a rough season from a +/- perspective, I think he would have some value. I also think that he would waive his NTC if asked. Nothing more than opinion there and no facts or quotes to back it up. Just seems like a stand-up kind of guy who if he felt he was wanted somewhere, he would go.

And STL Fan, I agree 100%. I think they should have traded him at the deadline last season to the highest bidder. I feel that Army over-valued him and then by doing so, signed him for way too much. I would like Buch at $6m for 3 years, but when he got $8.0 AAV @ 6 yrs, I threw up in my mouth a little. I would trade him this season to anyone that will take him, for what would probably amount to very little in return. For example, if Buffalo is serious about dumping Cozens who is underperforming his $7.3m contract and they want to take Buch + a prospect/pick or two, I take that chance. I doubt Buffalo does that deal, but to your point, if you find a decent return, I'd trade him tomorrow and personally drive him to the airport. Even with a cap increase, that will quickly become our worst contract on the books.

After watching games against Edm and Florida, part of me feels like we are only a couple pieces away from being legit.
I agree too.

We don’t have any awful contracts, we have a mature defense, we have ways to do things other teams can’t do, and it doesn’t look to me like the team has quit.

I think a dilemma could be that the we can’t afford the cost. Apart from the Rantanen deal, Eller deal, legit nhlers aren’t really being moved and there’s probably some other teams who would have considered adding. There could be the situation that we simply don’t have access to the kind of improvement to take a step forward. It isn’t available or it’s cost prohibitive.

imo So long as the blues don’t go wild and make multiple significant trades - I think just any one trade - we will overcome that and remain in a very similar position to where we are now - a bit more behind the eight ball but perhaps also more free, and we’re getting to the stage of the retool where the young dudes start to hit the nhl lineup. The “bad” phase of this should be super brief? Hopefully.

I just hope this is our last year of rooting for a tank. We need to start our ascent next year.
Then we need a core shakeup and a leadership void filled by ACTUAL leaders. Parayko is not a leader, neither is Thomas. They are good players I want around still, but they have no business wearing a letter or being the key cogs for leadership.

Until that happens, we will forever be in the "tires keep spinning but no forward movement" mode.

The core has been rotten ever since Kyrou and Thomas signed their contracts which upset a large part of the roster, some of which are still here. That stench will forever remain as long as they show they are unable to hit that next gear/level. We are now in year 3 of them both, especially Kyrou, being unable to hit that next gear.

Why would players be upset with Thomas for being underpaid? Do they think it makes them look bad for maximizing their take-home? Kyrou is also paid fairly and has reached a new gear this season. Kyrou will appear underpaid as early as next season just because of the cap increase, unless he gets significantly worse. I don't think any of the players care in the slightest.

If we had a legit #2 C, everything would fall into place.

Neighbors - Thomas - Buch
Holloway - stud - Kyrou
Bolduc - Schenn - Snuggerud
Torpo - Dvorsky - Walker

I’m trading Faksa at the TDL. Can Bolduc play LW?

Likely won't help us next year, but this really shows why we need high pick this draft. Add one of the top center prospects in the draft and we are pretty darn well situated.

Stenberg, Pekarcik and Stancl aren’t too far either. But yeah, we need another center desperately
