Sabres owner flew to Montreal yesterday to meet with the boys, who lost 10 in a row, just to tell them to man up and not expect a trade.

Team response: trailing 2-0 in the first against the Habs, shots are 11-3 Habs.

Can't make that shit up
If the guy who once fired everyone in the organization who didn't wear skates and then sent out a slide show saying it was to support his family's luxurious lifestyle came to give me and the other players on that roster a pep talk, I'd most definitely respond the same way. That dipshit couldn't motivate water to run downhill.

No doubt he was irritated he had to travel at all and likely flew back in his private jet so he could go try and take credit for the Bills' success (I'm pretty sure I read that Pegula is contractually prohibited from interfering with the Bills' front office and coaching staff).

Between Rigas, Golisano, and Pegula, the Sabres haven't had an owner worth an ounce of shit in well over 30 years. People think because he dropped $88 million in Pedo State's lap so they could build a hockey program that he's Daddy Warbucks, but he's the worst of both worlds--he's meddlesome at the worst times AND he's cheap AF.

Funny how narratives change--word was that JTM was a giant jerk and should be sent out of the room. And frankly, I don't think anyone can argue that point, he IS a big loudmouth jerk. The fact that he feuded with Horvat and now is apparently not getting along with Pettersson, maybe he's still the problem. Before his jerkiness was just him being a jerk, now it's being touted as his "will to win." Pfffffft, whatever. Dude's a good player but he's also a big angry man-child. Some might say that describes a certain player on the Avs, but at least that guy's the reigning MVP.

I'll say it again--I don't think Rick Tocchet is a good head coach. Brilliant assistant coach and I don't think there is anyone better in terms of communicating with players on a one-on-one basis and getting the most out of some of them that way, but overall in terms of tactics and deployment, etc., I think he's below average. Another coach who gets a couple goals here and there and then goes full prevent. If the goalie isn't putting up elite numbers or there aren't a couple superstars putting the puck in the net regularly, everything falls apart.

I do agree with Dhaliwal on one thing though--if you weren't getting along with guys in the room, why the hell did you re-up? Obviously Pettersson was thinking long and hard about wanting out and then at the 11th hour after Rutherford did his usual thing of putting public pressure on a guy, decided to stay. It's clear he doesn't like Miller or Tocchet, so I don't get it. Just ask for a trade and deal with the blowback later.
Wasn't there a rumour Vancouver was going to send Pettersson to Carolina and then he signed shortly after?

Perhaps he had no desire to play in Carolina and them controlling his rights would mean either sign there for a few years or look like the bad guy and request out after that org just acquired you ala PLD.

Yeah I think Friedman said that on 32 Thoughts. Typical Rutherford shit but hey, it worked.

Seriously though, if a player wants out he should just stick with his guns. He clearly doesn’t like the coach, he clearly doesn’t like the coach’s star pupil, so just take the PR hit and ask for a trade. No doubt he definitely regrets signing now.

Problem is, until he starts playing better...Vancouver is selling pennies on the dollar. He's got to show the league he's still a player.

He's just too tall.
Nope. Chara did not continually hit people like that, Chris McAllistsr did not continually hit people like that, Tyler Myers doesn’t hit people like that, and so on.

He saw numbers and not only went charging in anyway, he threw his elbow up. That has nothing to do with being tall. It has everything to do with being an idiot.

Petey looked like he was the Petey of old and turning it around when Miller was out. Team would be banking that’s the player they’re getting not whatever he turns into with Miller back in the room

I’d love to see Van trade him. Getting rid of the younger guy with similar to higher upside for longer to keep the guy whose had locker room issues with multiple players and already in his 30s would be fun to watch unfold
