I'm sure you'd take Will Cuylle over Carter Verhaege currently considering Cuylle considering he's a +14 and Verhaege is a -10.
Your missing the point again .
If Cuylie was a -,14 instead of a + 14 or if Verhaege was + 10 instead of -10.
You've taken 2 different teams.
Lafreniere at -5 and Cuylie at + 14 shows whose playi g the better hockey.
A team.with a bunch if.minuses means they aren't winning games.
Teams with a higher goal differential are most likely higher in the standings and winni g.more games

+/- is a pretty useless stat to begin with.
It becomes completely useless if you're not factoring in quality of competition and ENG against. Cuylle plays against the opposition's 3rd best line, Laf is facing one of the top 2 every night

We have a hockey kid who would ask when he was younger his +/-. I tried to tell him then it's a misleading stat. He could get a plus for literally stepping on the ice as his team scored or a minus as a goal was scored against and he is tagged with the stat. I tried to teach him to keep it in context. Did his play directly cause a goal for or against. That being said he hates being a minus.

I seen Craig McTavish pull this in a game against the Ducks I think. Long time ago. First time I ever heard of this penalty.
By the rules, that was a clean hit.
You can disagree with the rule the league has pertaining to contact to the head, but saying that no penalty was called because it was a Golden Knights player that initiated the contact is misinformation

Eh, I watched the hit, it's borderline for sure but I didn't think it was illegal, and I'm super-nitpicky when it comes to hits. He raises the shoulder as he comes in but Knies is also ducked down a bit, so I could see a call there but I'm okay with that one being declared clean. And there's been comparisons to the Trouba hit, but like I said before there are elements to that one that I think DO make that one illegal...though I'll admit I'm not a Trouba fan at all.
