Simple: They’re objectively terrible defensemen who continually get overvalued (and overpaid) because they happen to be big guys.
You can throw Lyubushkin on that list too.
Myers in particular draws my ire because he’s 6’8” and plays like he’s 5’10”. I’ve literally never seen a player in any sport with so much leverage who has no idea how to actually use it.
Edmundson isn't a terrible dman, he's been a low profile, effective stay at home D for a decade. Also reliable in the playoffs.
Risto is/was overevaluated because he had offense at one point, not because he's big. He's all over the place.
Myers had a good rookie year and since then he's been pretty bad (from the outside) but the Canucks re-upped him so he must do something good.
Gudbranson is overpaid (thanks Jarmo) and was drafted too early but he's also fine for what he brings.
None of these guys deserve any attention IMO.
