Rangers are morons. They finally get Chytil back who’s been injured forever, playing him in both their preseason games and he just got hurt again and it didn’t look good

Chytil needs to hang em up soon, too. Health is too important.
I know injuries can happen any time, but why are they playing him in 2 preseason games in a row? He played in their 1st one and looked good, there is no reason to play him again in the 2nd game

Evander Kane out a “minimum of 5-6 months.”

How much do we want to bet he’s healthy by the first game of the playoffs? It’s becoming an alarming trend.
To be fair, Kane has had a nagging hernia issue since last year and actually looked horrible. His skating looked painful.

This is just strategic timing on their part for the surgery.

The problem is the Avs put themselves at a disadvantage by not intentionally exploiting the LTIR loophole, because so many other teams do, and the ones that need to are contenders up against the cap they're competing with.

Teams like Vegas and now Edmonton don't care if everyone knows they're intentionally timing these things so they miss the whole regular season, so the Avs shouldn't either.

They should just have Val tell a doctor his back hurts or something, so when he's cleared to return, he can just go on LITR until the playoffs.

Was wild... The Oilers could've LTIR'd him in like December last year, gotten him back by playoffs, and used his cap space to add players for their cup run. But didn't and watched him play absolutely horribly all year long and let him play through a hernia for some reason.

Given they've known about the problem for so long, they also could have scheduled the surgery in late June/early July, and let him come back three months sooner during the regular season.

But then they wouldn't be able to get the full season's LTIR savings, with him to miss 5-6 months, and likely the entire regular season by doing the surgery in late September.

Oh shit, Chytil got hurt again!?

Y'know it's really sad during their whole "rebuild," he is far and away the best center they drafted and developed (picking Lias Andersson has gone down as one of the all-time stupidest moves for a franchise famous for them), but up until Lafreniere finally starting figuring it out last season, he was pretty much their best forward in that category as well.

Chytil's skating with no regard to self preservation and half the time with his head down is bound to be injured. Maybe playing 2 games in a row here wasn't smart... but the way he plays is going to lead to injuries.
