Not saying it's untrue, but...

- Caught sharing drugs with a player.
- Said she was sexually assaulted 3 months prior.

Hmm...
Yea sounds like what happened is true but she wasn't that bothered by it until she got on paid leave, got mad, saw a payday opportunity and took it.

At the risk of victim blaming, here's some basic common sense: If you're a lady and a man flirts with you, "steals" your cell phone and asks you to come pick it up in his hotel room, and you don't intend to have sex, don't go.

I assume the coaches and GM were available. Report it to the coach/management and tell them what happened. Panarin took the phone without permission and was coercing her to come to his room to retrieve it. If the Rangers don’t do squat then report it to law enforcement as theft. If the Rangers terminate her then she and her attorneys should immediately file a sexual harassment and retaliation suit. That should go over well for the organization’s PR as well as the NHL.

You don't know how much she was bothered by it. Maybe a lot, but she also deemed that keeping her job was more important than speaking out.

Until she was about to be terminated, at which point she spoke up. This is really nothing out of the ordinary. A lot of people take in abuse in all aspects of life, because they are afraid of the consequences for themselves if they speak up. This is exactly the same reason why a guy like Mike Babcock used to get away with the stuff that he did, young players afraid to speak up because they know the coach holds them by their balls when it comes to their career.

A lot of people would simply eat up the shit and keep their job, instead of "fighting the good fight". It's completely normal behaviour.

What is going on in the KHL to referees lol

This time an elbow to the head.

Through this season, a linesman was sucker punched, a linesman was slashed and a ref was cross checked from behind into the boards.

It's hard to justify that one, it sure looks intentional.

Absolutely understandable. Many women are used to this type of boorish behavior and don’t want to destroy a guy’s career over it. But I used to investigate these types of cases and issue findings and if push comes to shove, that’s how you handle it.

It's not that women are worried about some slimeball's career, they are worried about theirs.

If the guys were worried about their career then they wouldn’t do it. Especially Bread. Like WTF dude? Don’t 💩where you eat. From an organizational/management perspective I’d be very intolerant about these kinds of stunts. Many women don’t bring up these kinds of incidents until there’s some subsequent situation like giving the anti-anxiety pill matter. I’ve seen that happen more times than I care to recount. From a legal standpoint, it’s better to handle it when it happens.

No, the women are worried about THEIR careers. If she brings up an incident like this, who are the Rangers going to move on from, Panarin or her?

Exactly. And it’s the same issue in all workplaces with signifficant power dynamics.

Oh I’m not discounting the women being worried about their jobs too. Of course they are. But you’re talking about a big spectrum of possible situations out there. It varies from case to case. Background and context matter in each individual case. An organization standing by a creep ass player is how you end up with Stan Bowman getting fired and the Hawks finding themselves where they are now. Hence my observation that organizations ought to be intolerant to this kind of behavior.

They should be, but have we seen 1 indication that any org's first reaction to just sweep it under the rug as quickly as possible?

Unsurprising but I’ve already seen this kind of scenario play out many times. This isn’t my first rodeo. Never overestimate people’s intelligence or their capacity to do the wrong thing.

Bring it to the NHL. I want to see refs have to "drop the mitts" with enforcers after bad calls and get plastered into the boards as if Parker Kelly still played for the Ottawa Senators.
