2024 2025 Around the League Part 2

Thought Nurse should get 5 for that. Knew the league lacked the balls for anything over 1. Can't be seen as interfering in the playoffs, donchaknow.
It's a travesty of justice, but it's DOPS, so it's par for the course.

NHL probably has a vested interest in the Kings-Oilers turning into a sweaty bloodbath in order to prove that the division-based format of the playoffs builds rivalries or some other ridiculous notion

Not going to lie, it would be hilarious to see the Habs miss now. Would be one of the all time meltdowns. And they are already high enough on Demidov, so missing would maybe put a bit of humility on them.

I don’t mind the Habs because they have sucked forever. Still, I’d like to see the CBJs make the POs given the tragedy that struck that club.

WSH/CBJ would be an instant ignore series for me, that's unbelievably boring. I don't care about their feel good story anymore, it's April.

MTL gives immediate excitement due to the size of the market and the playoff atmosphere at Bell Centre.

Really hoping they can pull out a point against Carolina tonight.

Col/Dal and TB/Fla are a couple of first round beauties.

Gonna pay attention to the Tor/Ott series also.

The ONLY potential saving grace about Washington/Columbus is they had the game on Saturday filled with fights and physicality, but I'm not sure that would translate to a full series.

Sometimes top teams stop giving a shit in the last stretch of the season, like the Stars, Avs, Canes...other times you see red flags like the Caps and Panthers. I see a lot of red flags with the Caps, they really acted like the Ovi record was their cup.

They played a back to back against Columbus a couple of days ago...got humiliated 7-0 in game 1, came back full strength in game 2 to avenge that loss and still got dominated. That's a team that punched way above its weight class for the whole season, there's a real chance for an upset there, especially if they face CBJ.

One more thing about Columbus: now they have a goalie (Greaves) capable of making saves, something Elvis havent been able to do in years.

I can see f***ing Saint Louis causing issues now. They are probably most inform team in entire league with Binnington reminiscing his Cup run season.

Could be sweet to dropt them in round 2. Who is going to be Kadri this time around and run Binnington?

Should have announced a full rebuild, which is what they need, not this "bolster our roster through free agency" shit.

Should sell McAvoy and Pasta and go from there. They are going to finish at the bottom of the standings for many years, might as well embrace it and accelerate whole process.

Florida I worry about specifically because of the matchup, but when we look at the two Conference winners in Washington and Winnipeg per/60:

Corsi:
Washington: 10th
Winnipeg: 15th

Scoring Chances For
Washington: 5th
Winnipeg: 22nd

Scoring Chances Against:
Washington: 15th
Winnipeg: 5th

High Danger Chances For:
Washington: 5th
Winnipeg: 7th

High Danger Chances Against:
Washington: 16th
Winnipeg: 9th

xGF
Washington: 10th
Winnipeg: 7th

Some of these numbers are good (Washington offense, Winnipeg defense) but in no way are they indicative of the dominating seasons each team had, respectively.

IMO at least one of these teams is primed for an upset in the 1st round and I believe it's the Jets.

If you botch them like Detroit they don't. If you do them properly like Ottawa or Montreal they work.
Let's see if either of the latter teams even win a round, let alone make the playoffs before saying their rebuild "works".

Young and exciting, talented players mean absolutely nothing in the end if you fail to achieve any success.

Yes, CBJ and Blues would be good bets in the first round if the odds are decent.

As for Florida, they are not the same team as last year and I don't trust their goalie. Tampa has been arguably the best team in the NHL after the deadline, they look like Tampa from the cup years.
