2024 2025 Around the League Part 2

Crazy to think about it now.

I would understand if he was betting against his team or throwing games but a few bets …
The rules were emphatically clear. He knowingly violated them anyway, got caught, then lied about it for decades. I have no sympathy whatsoever for him.

Anyway, it was a great moment for a great player and I’m glad I was alive to witness history being made. I don’t want to go any further than that.

Ay, im not going to die on a hill to defend him. I dont know much about him or the case. However banning a player from the hall of fame or betting when you have betting sites stapled to jersey and sponsorships... It just hypocritical.

The times and people’s attitudes have changed on sports and gambling. The context is very different now. For me, it was always about his dishonesty and upholding the integrity of the game.

I would still have an issue now with players and coaches placing bets on their sport and/or team regardless of betting sites for the general public so as to preserve the integrity of the game.

On a human level, I do feel for Georgiev.

I remember someone here (either Gigantor or Henchy) mentioning when the Avs traded for him that Georgie was very talented, but his problem was "between the ears"...and at some point the end to his 1st season in Colorado, he just got completely broken & hasn't recovered.

Jim Nil spoke to ESPN on Saturday and said Heiskanen isn't expected to be back in round one.

DeBoer, about three weeks ago, said he could return at some point during the first round. The Nil statement is more recent.

This tidbit makes me feel like Randolph Duke when he read the fake orange crop report in Trading Places.

“WONDERFUL NEWS!’

Please don't call yourself that, when you don't actually mean to. And you don't want to.
 I said anarchist... not antichrist. But I honstly don't believe in those, either. Societally, I'm probably more of a nihilst than anything. Just a very grim future outlook.

I try to be a rationalist, but admitedly fail quite often as an emotional being.

He played with Sakic

I so don't know if I prefer to face the Stars in Round 1 or that they jump Winnipeg to avoid them in Round 1... My first instinct is to avoid them because you never know, but facing them in Round 1 without Miro is quite enticing... But Round 2 would give Landeskog a few games to get better... especially if Seguin gets the luxury of playing 1-2 games before the end of the year...

Tough choice... tough choice... Good thing I don't get to choose anyway :laugh:
