The sport would be completely different if the point was to have good moral bearings. Not so sure I'd be watching that to be honest.
Me too. But I’m like ‘oh good for him as a player but this certainly isn’t the kind of person that I’d want to hang out with.’ Two entirely separate concepts. I will say that when he got the record, my first thought was ‘isn’t that the mother****** who supports Putin?’.

I try to cut people some slack based on where they were born and raised as that will surely completely shape their world view. Do you realize how many people are never able to overcome the that? It's why you see mostly southern baptists born in the south, and very few buddhists are born in Mississippi. We're all victims of circumstance to a certain point.

Note, I'm not a fan of Russia geopolitically, and have not been my entire life. In fact my entire life has been a cold war with that nation, one in which I even volutneered to be a pawn. That being said, I am more than happy to cheer his accomplishments on the rink and have the Rocket renamed the Ovechkin as they continue trophy renames with more mordern legends. Guys a f'in unit on ice and that has been great for the game.

Hope I didn't cross the no-politics line too far, wasn't my intention but... i am a habitual line stepper. Stepping back now.

I was just thinking of your post when I got your reply. I wholeheartedly agree. We are ALL human and therefore flawed (including ourselves). So I’m like stay the **** away. I got enough problems dealing with my own flaws to have to put up with yours (figuratively not you literally) too. LOL.

couldnt witness history being written live because I was at work and this game was early af. :(

well, at least it freaking happened. pretty crazy to read now the threads from off season when most were doubting he would break within this season. now I hope we can see him break 900. and I wouldnt doubt him reaching 950 even.

also, the video of him reuniting with Backstrom in the locker room got me. 😢

I don't know.... the anarchist in me can't help but love that the NHL leading goal-scorer is a Russian, who is also Captain of the Washington Capitals and the team is sponsored by Tik Tok. There is just something so deliciously, deviously, sublime about the whole thing....

Several steps
It was very evident during the 4 Nations tourney that he did not belong. He could not keep up.

I have a feeling if he keeps playing he is going to morph into a 25-30 point 4th liner very soon, potentially as soon as next season while some dumb team pays him 6M+ annually. His next contract could look worse than Stamkos'.
