I don't give a f*** about Gretzky. From a sporting perspective, I'm actually cheering for this. Great achievement. Without all the lockouts and COVID, we would be talking about him breaking a 1000 right now (or rather, he'd done it last year). Best to ever do it.

I just f***ing hate the way that it's being hyped up, because I dislike Ovechkin as a person.

Fair to say, in general, yes. But TBH, even among NHLers, my dislike here pretty much only extends to Ovie because he's the one who has been actively supporting Putin and never backed down from it. The majority of Russian players know to shut the f*** up. Zadorov is a good guy, but he's doing it because he openly has said he's never going back there. A guy like Malkin is not that much better. And yes, I (and many other Finns) have questioned even Barkov when he attended some Russian camp a few years ago with these people.
