So I'm looking at the playoff picture...

It looks like in the East we'll get the battle of Florida and the battle of Ontario in round 1. That's promising. Man I love the first round of the playoffs.

In the West we get LAK vs Edmonton again. FFS.

1st round is always a joy and honestly, this might be the best 1st round in a long, long time.

Toronto/Ottawa
Florida/Tampa Bay
Dallas/Colorado
Edmonton/LA (even if repetitive, the games are exciting and these teams hate each other)
Hell, even Washington/Montreal intigues me.

Hope these matchups remain. Do not want Florida or Tampa passing Toronto

Maybe LA has a chance this season....First round of the NHL playoffs is almost always the best hockey you will watch.

I also think one of the best things we can hope for is St. Louis passing Minnesota.

Winnipeg doesn't scare me, so whoever they play in round 1 doesn't matter to me.

However, if Vegas has to play a red hot, physical Blues team with a guy who - of course an asshole - has a history of being great when the games matter most in Binnington could make their path insanely difficult to start.

Vegas getting Minnesota then the winner of LA/Edmonton would ensure a WCF birth in like 10 games tops.

Perhaps I am speaking too soon, though, since Dallas is only 4 points back of Winnipeg and will have a game in hand after tonight.

That would be a blessing. Dallas is the big boy matchup of the west this season.

You could argue facing them immediately might be better since Heiskanen won't be 100%.

I posted in the Landy thread, but this is probably the best thread for it: Dallas has very good chance at passing Winnipeg now. The chances of a COL/WPG round 1 rematch are shooting up:

If Dallas beats Winnipeg on the 10th, I think that probably flips it.

St. Louis probably doesn't have the runway to make up 5 points on the Avs, but I'd have no problem with the Avs going into the Pacific bracket, so go Blues?
