2024 2025 Around the League Part 2

Try living in Seattle and wanting a team for decades only to get this.

If nothing else that franchise spent the billions necessary to make a shiny new arena to welcome the Supersonics back into town.
Ah man...I actually want to like the Kraken. I absolutely loved how they saved the roof from the old arena...just jacked that thing up high in the sky, demolished the building underneath it. Dug down deeper into the earth and then built a new stadium that was designed to allow the old roof to be lowered back down and attached to the new stadium.

That cost a boatload extra to do that, but the city wanted to keep it, so the team did. They got the light rail extended further out from Seattle so that it stops near their practice facility.

I kinda kept up on all that stuff, because I've been in and out of the SCCA so much over the last few years. The hotel we try to stay at is in the same neighborhood as their practice facility.

When a lot of folks here kept talking about wanting Jones on the Avs, the hype was high, at first I kinda went along with it and for a moment I also thought we should trade for him, but then thought twice about it and realized that no, he’s just not very good for the money he’s making even with retention. I mean he’s not even a top pairing d-man right now, and not even worth the 7 mill with the salary retention

Los Angeles has two games in hand on both Edmonton and Vegas. If they win them, they will pass the Oilers and be 1 point behind Edmonton.

There's a very real possibility - if the Kings continue their strong play - that the 1st round matchup in the Pacific is Vegas/Edmonton which looks just as juicy on paper as Colorado/Dallas.

JFC how long have you been waiting to write this? Guy has been sucking ass for nearly 2 years and now he has a couple of good games and all of a sudden he's back and no one should have doubted that? Even Kiviranta can have a hot streak.

Let's revisit this topic in a month, at the very least.
Pretty uncool to bring Kivi into this. He's a saint!

Not a #1D, again being used there. I get it, but people acting like they could just walk away from Ekblad now were quite funny.
Ekblad never really was their #1. Forsling is. Fact is, even in a reduced role his flaws are still way too big for any given team, even one as good as Florida, to cover up for. To me he’s nothing more than a meaner, more physical Morgan Rielly, except he’s likely not nearly as good offensively, and I’m no fan of Rielly’s either.

You just love shitting on that franchise. If they ever become good you won’t know what to do with yourself.

The fact they were even in the mix in the wake of their highest-profile star dying in the offseason, a brand new coach, and no real discernible improvements between last year and this is quite remarkable. Hopefully Waddell and Evason can build off that but they got a ways to go. But I think they’ll be good before Anaheim is, and I think Anaheim has better young talent.

That's incorrect. I said I wanted them and the Sens to make it.

Now that leaves 3 bad options with Rags, Habs and Wings which is why I'm upset at Columbus.

Despite popular belief here I like Columbus and I hate Montreal. I'll always be a small market guy.

Of all the teams in the mix for that wild card spot I would argue they’re the ones overachieving the most up to this point. It ain’t a choke job, they’ve just finally come back to earth. It still just isn’t a very good team.

They are no worse than a rebuilding Montreal team or a very poorly built Detroit. Rags are the only "legit" team there and they were sellers all year.

Ekblad is literally Erik Johnson.
That’s why it’s hilarious to read the takes on both of these players around here and one be so positive and the other be so negative.

You would think people would look if the player is being played at the correct positioni in evaluating them. At least after getting Lindgren. I didn’t want Lindgren because he sucked iin NY. I was wrong about Lindgren. Bring him to CO and don’t use him as Fox’s partner on first pair. Voila! Much better. I would imagine that we would have seen Jones be productive if he was on the Avs.
