I hate to be the one defending Dallas… but Harley is a better player than he was last year, so that’s a boost to their defence.

Not to mention their forward group is clearly better. The depth is insane. The question can be asked, is it the right depth? Are they gritty enough.

Colorado is also much improved from last season though and even if they have Rantanen, that line still loses to the MacKinnon line. As we know Mikko is not a driver at even strength and is more effective at piling up points on the power play.

I don't think we cna say that either Dallas or the Avs are clearly better than the other team. Two juggernauts...

I think Avs 1st line is better, 2nd lines are close, Stars 3rd line is better and 4th lines I would say Avs but I don't know the Stars players on that line well enough so I'll say even...

Avs D is better and Stars G has the edge.

Hard to be any closer than that...

Injuries are once again going to play a huge factor.

What’s the chances we extend Nelson? Know it’s one game but it’s nice to have a competent 2C
All the rumours say that he's going back home to finish his career in Minnesota.
Way too early for that. We'll see how he fits over the rest of the year. Having Toewser and Mack to work on him for the next couple months should help. Playing on a team that is a true Cup contender helps.

I'm sure Minny will throw a dumb deal with an extra year at him. Like Avs offer 4, Minny offers 5, etc.

Anybody would be dumb to go to Minny, but the Parise and Suter contracts come off the book this offseason, so they will be major players in the free agent market for sure. No chance Avs will be able to overpay him as the Wild can potentially do on top of that. It's too early, but a lot of Islander fans think he wants to go back home with his fam.

Mild losing 1-0 to Pittsburgh after 40 minutes.

It would be good for us to build some distance ahead of them. They keep losing and we face them on Tuesday in a big 4 point game.
I worry less about Minny catching us than I do Bednar going balls deep to pass Dallas.

Unless I'm missing something if we stay ahead of Minny we face the biggest threat in the West in round 1 no? Why is it a good thing?

It would be much better for the Avs to stay in a wildcard spot and face Vegas or Winnipeg.

Dallas would beat the Avs in a 7 game series unless Johnston, Harley, Mikko and Otter get injured in a bath house Jiu jitsu tournament.
