The thing that is most impressive is when you look at the additions of Dubois, Chychrun, Mangiapane, Roy, Thompson, and Duhaime it cost them almost nothing to add 5 legitimate NHL players and a 1A goalie to the roster.

He's been there for a couple of years but don't forget "bust" Dylan Strome turning into a PPG+ 1C.
Also Rasmus Sandin playing on the top pair.
It's like reverse Buffalo. Everything clicked together.

Yeah, it's really interesting to watch from afar. I have a sneaky feeling next season the Capitals might come crashing back down to earth but for this season it's definitely working.
Also I don't think it's a coincidence that they bought CapFriendly then magically became a contender overnight. I'm sure those tools have paid dividends.

Spencer Carbury has done an incredible job with that roster. You could see it building last season and he's really got all those guys on the same page - working together.
Nobody expected much out of that team and they're tops in the league. Now thats a f***ing coach!!!

That guys winning best coach. Probably should have won it last yr aswell. Look at all the guys having career yrs on that team. Strome, McMichael, Protas to name a few. Wilson has 25 goals already this season. Chychrun has 16 goals? Logan Thompson looks like a legit #1. Dubois looks like he gives a shit. I also hear that they have a stable of really good prospects on the way aswell.
Got basically a 2 week break in the middle of the season. I honestly think he is going to push hard for it out of the gate after the break, so where he ends up. Then will dial up the intensity again for the stretch run if he is close, or dial it down a bit if it becomes evident he needs to wait till next season.Ovi hat trick. He's going for it this season.
