Even though we love analytics but ignore that we had an insanely high PDO last year, somehow made our shittier defense even worse in the offseason, and we got lucky and got to face a fluky Preds team in the first round that had no business being in the playoffs.

Then when you finally fix the defensive issues by trading one of your young guns for Hronek you decide to collect the Avs misfit toys on D and bring in Cole and Z. And your goalie explodes and keeps getting hurt. The one year you had everything going your way to make the deepest of runs.

Then your guys all have their big expensive contracts kick in and start feuding.

I legitimately feel bad for the Canucks.

I don't think that's the reason, although I DO think Petey made a huge mistake signing that contract, he very clearly did it because Rutherford threatened to trade him if he didn't come back to the negotiation table.

EP is overrated, that’s my opinion on him. Miller seems like a guy who wants to win more than EP.

Miller's an asshole who just convinces people he cares about winning, then dogs it regularly on shifts while screaming at teammates when they do something similar.

I'm not here to say Petey hasn't been problematic, but when he's on, he's a gamebreaking talent.

Except MacK. I want him to step onto the ice for the first practice and lightly chuck an extra helmet at McDavid and say anyone named Connor gets beaned. Then McDavid and MacK form a budding bromance and bond over their mutual disdain for Garland.

Next season the Avs one two punch up the middle isn't MacK and Crosby. It's McDavid and Crosby. MacK on the wing.

The best thing about this ridiculous impossible scenario isn't that the Avs get cros and McDavid. It's that Mittelstadt isnt 2C.

There is really no point talking about this because Avs can’t afford Miller or EP. If they wanted EP they could have sent Mikko to Vancouver instead of Carolina

Neither team wanted to pay Mikko or Necas for EP or Miller. They're not getting that kind of return because of the obvious situation.

Yep, in 3-4 years he could become the 1C while Mack slides to 2C.

To be fair I was hoping Mitts PPG start was an indication of that being possible with him as well. He's also 26.

Even a eventual 1A/B type situation would extend the window since Makar is only 26 himself. Still catches me off guard he's that young.
