It's better to go into season under dog and get better as season goes on then opposite. They are definitely going through some adversity right now. However I really believe they will come out of it with a more confident bunch going into playoffs.
The possible loss of Demko which could be until January and now the Silovs knee issue combined with Ian Clark no longer dealing directly with goalies and the diminished defence corps should have, at least, some fans more concerned.

8 points out of a WC spot by January and they are probably finished.

Silovs news is a hard one to swallow right now but we have to trust management has some ideas or a plan to keep us afloat until one or both are back. It's definitely gonna hurt us early on in season but it happens.

The closer the season starts the more bad news.

Boeser's back but has to be careful. What does that mean? It was blood clots, does it mean no hitting?
Demko is out for sure, indefinately, no time line.
Silovs isn't back, no info on his return.
Joshua is in cancer recovery, radiation? Chemo? One of them for sure. So he is out.
And
EP didn't have anything done to fix his knee so it could flare up again. If it was tendonitis then a flare up is easier to reoccur.

This wouldn't be a Canucks site if it wasn't afflicted with the 'Chicken Little' syndrome at times. The sky isn't falling.

Sure the Canucks could be grappling with a few unexpected injuries to start the season, but if that was all it took to derail this team in the early going, then it will be because they weren't good enough to start with.

This lineup is deep, and talented enough, to overcome just about anything. And Tocchet isn't the kind of coach who will tolerate 'excuses' for a slow start--no matter what the circumstances. Time to chill out.
