Prospect Info: [2024 - 130th] Tyler Thorpe (RW) - Vancouver Giants (WHL)

With our development team coaches and all the effort the organization has put into helping prospects develop either at the gym or as a person, I think this kid can become our next surprise after Xhekaj and Davidson!
He is certainly an interesting prospect to watch. Putting up good numbers but Taken in 5th round at 19. A big right D we certainly need him in system

I thought he wasn’t that mean.

I’m stoked he got a contract but wasn’t he a bit underwhelming?

Anyone have a detailed account of his season?

He's certainly not Xhekaj mean, I think his best asset by far is the shot but after that not much else looks ready for the AHL so I was surprised to see him get a contract since now he will count against the 50 if he's sent back to the WHL as an overager next year, so I got to think they assume he's going to be ready for the AHL. He's going to need a strong summer as his feet are so heavy, the skating isn't there, he seems to get gassed easy like McCarron used to early on, which isn't uncommon for players his size.

Yeah after a good camp I thought I heard he had a somewhat meh season.

Would love for a big boy like him with a shot to be a player for us but it just sounded like he didn’t really make that happen.

He had a pretty solid season. The Giants weren't a great team and he's not exactly a play driver. He's a finisher, with a big body.

He scored a lot of short handed goals, so the value is there for a bottom 6 PKer, with size and a shot that can score in the bottom 6.

Right I do remember that now. Hope he really puts in the work skating wise
